  1. Go have a look at pickapart for some ideas and possibly some cheap solutions?
  2. Hey man, i have spare 1GEU injectors if you need em let me know.
  3. Yes im saying to swap the PS/nonPS racks it is just a case of using the correct bolt on metal straps and the rubber bushes with the rack. I did the swap quite a few years back now but I remember i didnt remove my crossmember or weld anything. Its possible the MA61 brackets/rubber bushes will work on the celica xmember, from memory the 6cyl rack is a little longer but mounts may be the same. Or get hold of the guy you bought the PS rack from. See if he can send em to you if he still has them.
  4. Hi, save this link... http://www.toyodiy.com/parts/ Very useful for cross referencing toyota parts. I dont think you need to swap xmembers to change to power steering if thats what you are doing.... I changed to power steering in my TT142 corona (same platform as celica) and used original crossmember just changed the bolt on metal brackets or bushing on the rack mounts. TA63 MA61
  5. Cheers J-calico, yes its a 1G-FE (non vvti) from a GX90 mark II manual trans. I had a refresher look at your project threads, you've nailed the look i had in mind on your sedan with those wheels!! real awesome man. With the right color like yours I would be happy but after painting mine twice im over it. Cant really go wrong polished espicially the one piece type dish, so i think the bronzy red will stay on the centres and ill polish up the dish and the star faces like roman said.
  6. Heres a video from the hori dori #4 skid day at meremere a couple of months back. Enjoy some 1GFE power... the speed! the smoke! XMqMmMtd-Zw I did a couple of photochops to motivate me to get polishing. gx61mkiigrandesharkdark004 by oversteerer, on Flickr gx61mkiigrandesharkblue004 by oversteerer, on Flickr gx61mkiigrandesharkpolish004 by oversteerer, on Flickr
  7. hi Roman, yeah its been a while man.. feel free to visit sometime, ill supply the beer and autosol? My dream wheels for this would be some 14x9 / 14x8 watanabe in solid bronze color if i can get that color on my super sharks i would be nearly there. From ugly pointies to some more ugly pointies haha, the color looks worse in the photos than irl. but yeah I guess ill man up and get polishing soon.
  8. Got the whale wof'd and reg'd again for the summer season Thought id show off its new "old" wheels. I won the first pair (red centre) on trade me years ago thinking they would be some good skid wheels and they were put in storage. More recently I spotted another pair (gold centre) on yahoo japan auctions so Ewan from hayatonka was called upon to get them to nz. When they got here i discovered they weren't the same brand but they were close enough in design and size to call a set so i was happy. The first pair are 1982 super shark 14x7 offset +4. They also have an "E" cast on the back which im guessing is Enkei? The second pair are Hero 14x7 offset -2. They were all in need of a clean up as they had some oxidisation. I didnt feel like hours of polishing so i thought id go for the solid color look. The first coat was a metallic bronze spray can which turned out looking gold.. I wanted something a bit darker so i used another brand metallic bronze which turned out looking like red??!! By this point i was sick of inhaling spray paint so I figured they can go on the car as they are and they may grow on me haha. Im thinking later on i may give them a black guide coat to darken them up a bit or ill wait till they get covered in brake dust. Give us your opinion on the wheel color/car, whatever... viewtopic.php?f=18&t=14229 14x7p4_gloriasupershark_001 by oversteerer, on Flickr 14x7p4_gloriasupershark_002 by oversteerer, on Flickr 14x7-2_herosupershark_001 by oversteerer, on Flickr 14x7-2_herosupershark_003 by oversteerer, on Flickr 14x7-2_herosupershark_005 by oversteerer, on Flickr gx61mkiigrandeshark002 by oversteerer, on Flickr gx61mkiigrandeshark003 by oversteerer, on Flickr gx61mkiigrandeshark001 by oversteerer, on Flickr gx61mkiigrandeshark004 by oversteerer, on Flickr gx61mkiigrandeshark005 by oversteerer, on Flickr gx61mkiigrandeshark006 by oversteerer, on Flickr gx61mkiigrandeshark007 by oversteerer, on Flickr gx61mkiigrandeshark008 by oversteerer, on Flickr
  9. Would the jzx100 vvti 2J need the dash, ignition etc to run? It could be easier to source a loom and ecu from a post '97 chaser, mark II to run it?
  10. Yeah I do have a couple of the early mark II HT bonnets. (see pic) The one off the white car is in good condition apart from crazy cracked paint, will need sanding and repainting. Also have one from a gold car with a few minor dents... bit rusty under the front edge (not visible from top). Can pick up from auckland?
  11. Looks good, Ive always liked these valiants, Are you gonna put those hustler type mags on? Paint centres white or some cool color?
  12. 14" watanabe? widened steels? go with what you like the look of. I would say go for 14 inch but havent got any real reasoning for that, what size tyres are on it currently? they look like it would hit top speed by 80 km/h
  13. Super rarity!!! I gotta start looking in more barns.
  14. Hi, the 1GGE comes highly recommended, its a sweet motor if your not chasing big power but happy with a few more revs, sporty feel etc, night and day difference over the 1GEU. As for using the 1geu loom I have never given any thought to this, I guess it could be made to work if you had no other option. Probably not worth the effort, 1GGE came factory in some gx61's and plenty of other 80's toyotas.
  15. Years go by without an update... I took out the souped up 1GGE as it was blowing a bit of blue. I thought it was due for a freshen up although when i get around to that i dont know. A 1GFE was fitted in its place without too much trouble, the wiring proved the hardest part. The extractors from the 1GGE went straight on which was a bonus. I swapped all the facelift exterior parts over last xmas holidays and nothing much since then. The WOF/Reg expired around the middle of the year so its been parked since. (Cant justify the expense of paying rego on a second car) Want to get it all legal again so i can use it a bit over the xmas break Also made a page for the toycrazy site and put a few photos on flickr... markii_grande_gx61_a by oversteerer, on Flickr
  16. Hey man cool car, loving the toyota power Sounds like its keeping you on ya toes Just a heads up for you or any other hunter owners looking for bits, I saw one wrecking today at Takanini Pick a Part. Still Pretty complete. Missing bootlid and passenger rear door.. seats gone too i think. looked like gearbox was there, didnt look under the bonnet. Looked tidy from the outside. Recent purple paint job, black interior, not exactly original looking, could be a few good bits on it?
  17. Probably a silly question but have you tried bolting the bare arm to the subframe first and then bolting up the radius arm, sway bar etc?
  18. http://www.performancecar.co.nz/article ... driven-148 Check the link above this car had the two tone stuck on. White vinyl. Could be a better option to save sanding and painting. Waz's old cresta had three tone paint which looked pretty sweet, have a look for his old project thread, see what you think. My idler arm was around $40, that was a few years back with mates rates. I have a set of the plastic body mould strips spare if you want. BTW Flares look sweet man you must be dying to get that rear window. Then a white cresta turns up on TM in chch... haha always the way did you buy it?
  19. Replace the idler arm assy/bush, its not expensive, it helped tighten up my steering a fair bit. Also you can adjust ya steering box play (may pay to get someone experienced in doing this). The mounts should be the same between the NA and turbo 2J's... Ask ryanfels if he still has the plans for the mounts he used in his gx61. BTW you still interested in those chrome trims?
  20. Yeah I was close to caving in too not that i need more project cars haha. I got a wagon screen in my sedan after mine got cracked driving to a puke track day. Im surprised the celica one wont fit, the doors are the same tho aye? shared with MA61 etc. I got some pedals, 2S flywheel maybe some other manual conv parts, if you get stuck just ask i can have a dig around.
  21. Did you get the new coupe from auckland off TM? Looks like one i spotted on there a while back, does it have a cracked window? If you need a new windcreen there was a TA63 celica screen for sale on TM last week... dunno if the screens are the same? should be.
  22. Coronas typically run celica gearboxes, if the motor is 1600cc or less it will have T series box, if its bigger then it will have W box... usually
  23. Not sure if you could fill them with urethane I dont see why not? Plus plastics 09 2735162, in east tamaki done my engine and gearbox mounts for $60 a piece. You could try asking them.
  24. Nice 7! I think i saw it this afternoon about 3 heading toward papakura? Had a yellow plate on the back? The wheels will be sweet with painted centres so you cant see the multifit holes. Not quite MK3s but still mint.
  25. Cheers guys, the whale loves to rev.. sounds most happy around 6500 7000! The steering arms, new bushes etc must have helped heaps, spun out a lot less this time
