  1. use teh 4agze crank angle sensor type "dizzy" and aftermarket ecu, or, as i saw on toyspeed a wee while ago, an adaptor kit to drive the dizzy off the cam pulleys... on '86s you dont need to cut the firewall, if you use the gze bit, so really, you shouldnt have to on a starlet either.... not 100% though
  2. you shouldnt have to, at all, if it's mounted properly. rwd manifold isn;'t essential , i wouldn't pay $300-400 like some guys are chargin these days, just get a fwd altered.... easy

    TE gemini

4ze1 partial engine = List 4270.17 Trade Wsle 3882.01 Head = List 1747.26 Trade Wsle 1397.81 brand spankin' new would need manifolds etc, but yeah, seems a cheap engine, shouldn't be hard to get a decent one, even if you needed to rebuild it or something........ rodeo's are everywhere in teh wrckers, i guess, as all utes etc are, it'd be fairly high k's though
  4. mates dad has a harley in his lounge for an engine job-takes up pretty much the whole room.... says its better than doin it in his shed lol
  5. can't be - 7 digits in that plate champ vr4 engines are better than evo3 anyways, stronger from what I hear
  6. gotta be under the dash somewhere -try arond the steering column area.....
  7. fuses are in the little box on the fire wall, just to the right (car's right) of the carb, toward top of firewall...... any wires fallen off the main power feed at the solenoid??? down the bottom of the engine bay, RHS next to the engine...... hah, I never really had electrical problems on any of mine... sorry dude.
  8. 4D52 dude - diesel.... thats what I;m told anyways..... google is yuor friend oviously, to delve into it further.
  9. hydraulic, although you wouldnt be able to use it due to the column change aspect.... l200s with 4d52's in them are common as mud, shouldbnt be hard to get a gearbox at all..... turbo or not,m they should be the same. you wouylda heard it from me a couple years back when i was looking at that van that rob from 1st automotive had as a workshop hack - bert at mike murphy has it now... mean bit of gear, would be the first one done in nz i would expect, it's been around for at least 4 years. rob told me that all you need is a 2.5 turbo box, and he used an evo 5 flywheel and clutch assy. again, the non turbo box is probably the same, might have different ratios or something - mine does 3200rpm at 100, not sure on the diff ratio though
  10. log in pus nuts....... turn's on, why dont 4g63BT's from vr4's bolt up? apparently 2.5 turbo diesel boxes are the ones to use in vans, should be easy as pie to get an l200 box so you have floor change, then mac a vr4 engine in front of that.. easy. water pipes are next hardest part, which shouldnt be too bad
  11. check the switch too - lucas headlight switches = dim, flicker, and off.... if you need anything give me a PM, prolly got most bits you'll need
  12. there's two types of retops - big port (high comp bluetop essentially) and small port- small port is 100kw. you can turb's a 4AG easier.. plus they go better turb'd - can get some mean numbers, even out of a blue top with stock comp - 15psi is do-able on stock ecu. No better bang for your buck than a 4AG in a KE... easy horsepower to be had. mega buy a GZE, ditch the charger, they're shit.... run a t28 or something on there.. will be awesome. with a turbo running 5psi on a 4agze, you'll get better power thn the supercharger running it's stock 8psi. and 300hp on a turb'd 4agze isn't that difficult
  13. go for teh 4ag, 3hp more (bluetop vs. 2tg, of coruse the red top etc would be better again) and like 25kg lighter apparently... 4ag = more parts available blah blah blah IMO - small port redtop 4age, or silvertop 20v... retro-tech it up.. (blatant pwnage from RT )
  14. austin princess ap 4 pots should bolt straight on - just cant use backing plates??? and have to slpice the brake line into 2 (each caliper has 2 lines, instead of one like the escort calipers) pads just overlap a bit but thats no problem theres heaps of princess' shat out all over the place. mat picked some calipers up for $25 from this old cunt in feilding.
  15. split case y0... stock ae86 fitment aren't as strong as steel case. they don't like quick changes (second one-sychros were a tad, umm, welded...) or clutch kick.... was told they were "bullet proof" stock 4age with extractors and standard exhaust.... go figure
  16. I wouldnt got to the effort of a T50 unless it's a bolt in job.. and try and find a steel case one if possible.. t50s arent that strong, I killed two with a standard 4AGE.. although I was a tad rough on them..... still, W55 pwns
  17. tried toyspeed???? pretty sure you have to use an adaptor type bellhousing.... PM a dude on there called niteb cher
  18. pwned hah, theres bound to be somewhere like that in aucks....... theres an MG place that I got some bullet mirrors off up there in auck.. no idea of the name though
  19. wof issue I;d imagine make sure you check tha you're driveshaft isnt bottoming in the gearbox housing at full compression of the suspension onto the new length bumpstops = bad
  20. I had a set, plus rear seat trimmed to match, for a mk1..... feb '04 floods killed them though.... they were low back reclining buckets- fully mean umm, try the mini guys up your way, I think there's a pace called swift automotive?? they do heaps of mini stuff anyways- and would be able to hook you up wth period 60s race buckies... fully awesome
  21. Looks good dude... any decent size pics of it sitting on the current suspension setup at all? pics you have on there are with it up on a hoist... lovin the wheels!
  22. holden rebadges isuzus and vauxhalls.... from two completely different countries... nice gem tho, dont usualy like them but damn, this one is nice
  23. I wouldn;t think they would fit - problem being that chevette's are vauxhall, and gem's are Isuzu..... go figure..
