  1. FUCK!!!! That is awesome. Love it.
  2. 5 spokes on the front??? 18's too, came on the mazda but i broke one going sideways through a curb late one night. epic fail. will be keeping an eye out for wheels, don't want to spend too much though cheers Matt
  3. this thing has been a fucking hassle. think i've finally got it sorted, after a water pump, a thermostat, a radiator flush, a new battery and a fuel filter. its been running pretty sweet the last few days though and i'm starting to enjoy it again. put the wheels on finally, makes me realise how much it needs to come down. damn i wish i could find another one of the 5 spoke ones, they definitly suit it. and yes sparkle, the pajero's aren't really for this. they'll do for now though and i should be able to make some money on them so meh, not a major. cheers Matt
  4. i've asked the same question back when slonlo owned it, so similar. and that would be Marcus's old RA28????? his brother owns it now, its down here in Tauranga, or it was a couple of years back. he had a 23 as well, maybe even the same one??? had the firewall hacked for a 3s conversion. i've had a 23 and a 28 in the past, wish i had have stuck with them but both were bigger projects than i had money and time for back then. i like what you're doing with it, i reckon fuck raising it up though. 1st gen celicas NEED to be low!!!!!! but imagine matt black and dented up, fuck yes!!!!!! cheers Matt
  5. excuse the night time photo's but 2" blocks are in and torsions wound down a bit. its a start anyway, still a fair way to come down before i'm happy though took the ugly loading thing (name????) off the back too, the wood will come out, just going to ditch it at work tomorrow and picked these up at the swapmeet on saturday, just a pair so far but if the 5 stud swap that Ueli's got me half convinced to do goes ahead it means i can do it one end at a time and still be on 18's all round (sorry Cam but you haven't got me convinced on 17's, maybe once i see these on it i'll decide if they're too big.). need a polish, any recommendations??? i've got a mothers power ball, might give them a burst with that over the weekend. cheers Matt
  6. ha, those sekta's are 8" wide so won't get much wider than that under there. and i'm probably not going to go with them, don't want to cut the studs i've decided. will keep my eyes open, see what i can come up with. cheers Matt
  7. these............. please ignore my laziness/the flat tire. cheers Matt
  8. agree that pajero's are overdone, they're just a cool looking wheel and easy to get hold of. wil definitly be keeping my eye out for something different too. i've always had a weird love for sekta's, only in the bigger size though and with a bit of dish. they look decent on the mazda anyway, i'll try and find a pic. i'm pretty sure the blue one has got an extra cab tray on it, the LWB tray would be fricking HUGE!!!!!! been looking at a few different extra cab builds around the web and it looks about right, plus the single cabs have all got hook trays (not that it couldn't have been shaved). anyone know a good forum with 720's???? i'm sure there must be something pretty specific because i'm not finding a whole lot of info, mostly just american and australian builds where they just throw 4" blocks at them which is no good for me. cheers Matt
  9. yeah, pajero 18's is what i meant. i love dish but there's not a lot of room under the guards on this thing (offset wise rather than depth) and i'd like it to either tuck tire or be damn close which would probably mean rubbing on corners which isn't really ideal for a daily driver. i've got some 6 to 5 stud adapters on my mazda and some 17x8 sekta's with stretched tires i'm considering but i think i'd have to cut the studs which means they'd have to stay on there and i don't want to make that commitment just yet. cheers for the offer Andrew but not what i'm looking for. Sparkle, keen as. i talked to Ren about it last night and he was going to try and get the Nissan/Datsun PDF off that guy but if you've already got it that would be heaps easier, str_ng_r@hotmail.com. would love a new chrome bumper and grill to match, already found some corner lights with chrome surround on trademe. cheers Matt
  10. this place for the talky talky........................ http://www.oldschool.co.nz/phpbb/viewtopic.php?f=18&t=23329 i mentioned ages ago i was looking for a cheap reliable daily........... somehow i ended up with this. will have to see how the fuel bill is before i know whether i failed completely. a nissan/datsun???? i know, what the fuck???? but its old and ugly and rare and thats what i like. just picked it up tonight, these are the trademe photo's. its only done 152000 km's and no, it hasn't been around the clock. the interior is mint, double bench seats and all, the exterior has got a few little dings and scratches but i'm quite happy to drive it round like it is. its also got a fresh wof. plans???? i bought it as a daily and i'm not going to be doing much to it til the stout is done, just a touch of lowering and some wheels. fuck, 6 stud wheels. what was i thinking. idiot. pajero's might cut it, whats the story with the special wheel nuts you need for them??? anyway, pics................. and the thing that actually let me consider the idea of owning a datsun 720 double cab in the first place................... thoughts?? ideas??? anyone know anything about 720 chassis's and how to lower them???? cheers Matt
  11. probably my favourite ever shape of van. very cool. but thats not why i'm posting............... there's a truck version at Tauranga pick a part, looks reasonably tidy for how old it is. interior is a bit rough but there might be some hard to find bits if you need them. i had a quick look at the drivers door and a good look at the passengers, couldn't see any rust. the whole thing is painted in white house paint, not sure if its hiding anything. front plastic is there, although its been badged and somebody has taken a headlight out of each side. not sure where you're located, give me a yell if anything sounds interesting and i can have a better look, i've got to head back in the next few days to grab a few things. cheers Matt
  12. you still running a hilux chassis??? GTR front brakes are pretty easy to setup on the hubs, falcon stud pattern, might be easier and cheaper than converting to late model ford. cheers Matt
  13. love the car, love the ideas, good to see someone going outside the box. i've had a couple of early celicas myself, RA28 and a TA23, looked into bagging the 23 because the floor was pretty rough but realised that the project was way too big for me at that point so moved it on. i've learnt a fair bit about airbags and chassis stuff since though and have a couple of ideas and questions. you mention using different bottom arms and struts, is this to go 5 stud in the front??? are you planning on using airstruts in the front or bags??? i notice you left the top of the strut towers in the front but the new wheels seem to leave no room for struts in them, what are your plans here??? i'm not sure about width but have you considered using a hilux front clip???? 5 stud setup, easy to put bigger nissan disc setups on, easier to narrow, steering is a hell of a lot easier to get around a uz than celica stuff (as proven in countless hilux conversions) plus they've been bagged countless times and its fairly easy and can look pretty damn cool, especially with custom upper arms. you could also get rid of those strut tower tops and go for a nice smooth wheel tub, clean up the engine bay quite well. did i say easy enough times???? watching with interest.............. cheers Matt
  14. its the first shape B1600, 4 wheel drums, and i'm after the ball joint (think its part of the arm that goes across the ute and connects up to the tie rod ball joints) that goes into the steering drop arm. later model ones are part of the drop arm (so in reverse pretty much) so they're no good and ford/mazda don't have a listing. neither do repco/bnt/supercheap so does anyone know a part number or if something else will work???? probably be worth doing the tie rods and ball joints as well so if anyones got a number for those too???? tried giving it a whack with a hammer to tighten it up but VTNZ aren't happy with it. wankers. cheers Matt
  15. fuck. not sure whether to love or hate you. either way i'm jealous as hell. i really want to say put it on hold and do the crown coupe but that is going to be one sweet UA28. cheers Matt
  16. yes. i'll see if i can find a pic of the motor in its previous house. cheers Matt
  17. yeah, was an estima one. thought it was a sweet score, came with cable shifted w56 which means i don't need to cut a hole in my floor. meh, got a line on an s series bellhousing anyway so all should work out. cheers Matt
  18. Read some post on toyspeed which said a 3c bell would be sweet, its not. Meh. Could bolt up but motor would have to be pretty much sideways which won't work. Fuck. So what have people actually used? Rumour is that Y and super hard to find early S are sweet, can anyone confirm Y as more than just internet rumour? Cheers, Matt

    18RG stuff

right, got sump sorted, engine and twin sidedraught solex's mounted, trying to work out what i need to do for fuel and water. so: 1. am i better off running an engine driven fuel pump???? i've got one off my 22R and the mounting hole looks the same, its just covered up on the 18RG. or will i have to buy an electric pump and mount that and a fuel pressure regulator somewhere (if so what pressure???) 2. do i need to run the water cooling setup on the carbs or is it pretty pointless??? 3. anybody got pictures or a diagram of where all the water lines go for the heater and all that other shit?????? cause the hilux is a bit different. 4. my carbs are setup for the fuel line to come in the front, any idea why the hell they would want to do that???? would be heaps shorter to run it behind the block and into the first carb. i'm sure i'll come up with a few more but that will do for now. cheers Matt
  20. so um yeah, skyline was just sitting around and then some kids broke a window and i got to the point where i was going to scrap it but my brother in law had a better plan..................... so this would be the skylines last ride: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0QclzQ1wyUg at least she went out with a bang................................... brother in law got a wee bit scorched, currently in Waikato burns unit but will be ok. cheers Matt
  21. on that note, kyteler and solid stripe. beach hop. minor Japanese invasion. flags and OS stickers. fucking do it, no excuses. i'm planning on being there, got a few things to do but would be awesome to have a few japanese cars in the cruise that look like they belong. something with a bit of a WTF is that factor. something to think about anyway, gives us a bit of a timeline to have shit ready by (fuck, i better start panicing, a long way to go for me...............) interested???? cheers Matt
  22. been keeping an eye on this but haven't written anything yet (anti spam right here). fucking loving it though and wondering if you had a time line for it being back on the road legally. cause i reckon a minor japanese invasion for beach hop would be awesome, solid stripes gloria, your skyline, my stout, anything else that seems to fit the bill.................... i should be a hell of a lot closer to having the stout how i want it to look by then (lower, pinstriping etc) and reckon it would fit in, would be cool to have a bit of a lineup rocking japanese flags and OS stickers. keen??? cheers Matt
