  1. When I was helping my mate clean out his workshop I saw a random old Toyota steering wheel, I grabbed it thinking it was off an MX22 he stripped a while back but now I've had a Google I'm thinking its very likely the original KE15 one. Way better than the rusty aftermarket shitter that was there had a good look through the interior, door cards and roof lining are mint, seats are pretty much totally fucked from the sun. Will keep an eye out for decent KE20 interior in black. found the original service book, with vouchers! Hadn't even used the 48,000 km one, the dash shows 52,000 so I'm wondering if it's actually only done those km's. First owner had her until at least 2000, last rego paper showed a pensioner discount. Original tool kit was missing one spanner, and had a dirty Nissan screwdriver ive got these MX22 hubcaps which I wouldn't mind using but it turns out that 14" wheels in 4x110 only came on R100's, and people want drug money for the, these days so I may need a plan B cheers Matt
  2. Assembled the front today, mainly because I've run out of room! slammed it so my garage looks cool, it'll sit like this for a while until I've finished the Corolla. Also acquired a free 5MG, the only M motor I'd consider running. It's a possibility, they look sick on carbs/ITB's. 1st pic to prove it! cheers Matt
  3. Incorrect. I need ALL the rusty old Toyotas!!! I'd rather finish it, don't need the money anymore, and I really do want to get some enjoyment out of the copious amounts of $ I've poured into it
  4. That video really does make turbo options look more tempting
  5. Red one with stripes and race numbers? Adam Laws threw that together, that's the exact car that made me want one as much as I've never been a K motor fan I think you're right, this is the right car for one
  6. This is where you tell me why I should/shouldn't rotary swap it................. I won't. So far almost all the Kiwis I've told have tried pointing me in that direction, the Aussies are more inclined towards an LS1 Cheers Matt
  7. And here she is tucked away in until I've got some coin to throw at a motor and whatever else she needs for rego. Needs a good cut and polish, I know a guy who's pretty talented at bringing old paint back so I'll have a chat to him and see what he recommends. Hopefully the paint is savable, I like the thought of owning a 49 year old car with original paint
  8. Took me a few days to get organised then I went and picked it up on Sunday, was helping my mate move out of his workshop too so it turned into an eleven hour day pretty quick. Was still mega stoked, I didn't really believe it was happening until we were unloading it at my place
  9. I've been chasing this thing for years, had the money out of the bank to buy it at one point but the owner changed his mind. He's finally decided he's moving overseas and everything has to go. I struggled to put the money together but the girlfriend really likes it too so she loaned me the amount I was short by It's a pretty much rust free 1968 KE15, comes fitted with an auto but no motor. It's leaf rear, coil front. Apparently they were transverse leaf front stock so I'm not sure if someone has fitted KE20 front or maybe there's a JDM version or something. It comes with a Borg Warner disc brake diff that has been narrowed for a later model Corolla, I need to measure to see if it's actually skinny enough, R31 struts and front brakes, coilover sleeves, a set of watanabes, a G52 box and bellhousing to suit, plus a 7K-E. I've still got to pick some of the bits up, and I've got no idea whether I'm going to fit everything at this point. I'm pretty tempted to just find a earlyish K motor and manual swap and get it on historic rego Unfortunately now I'm flat broke so motor will have to wait a month or so Pics from when I went to check it out this time when I knew it was for sale:
  10. Inspirational pic runs rotary! Haven't seen anything about it for a long time now, wonder if it's still around cool score, old celicas are awesome. Wish the gf would let me mod her RA28 the right way, but she thinks wheels smaller than 16's are not ok. Why do I even like her???? Oh wait, she's got a BEAMS RA28 and lets me keep buying old Toyotas cheers Matt
  11. Awesome, cheers. That should give me a starting point at least. just curious on your thoughts on the power loss with quads. You think the reduced airflow (from cross section of ITB throats compared to a large single) is a major factor, or underbonnet intake temp would be a big problem as well? I'm leaning towards a 3SGE swap with either twin carbs to start, then some form of quad throttle bodies later, but I have to admit that your cross section comparison has got me thinking. I've got a spare bonnet so I could cut it up to promote cold air being directly fed to the intake, but if it's only part of the problem then I may have to change my plans cheers Matt
  12. Lies!!! just bought a carina coupe myself, been through your whole build thread, and now making my way through the discussion thread hoping to take in some of your test and tries. I think I was dreaming about graphs last night!!! 1 major question which will help heaps with the start of my setup (planning similar to you, fun track/weekend car, probable gen 3 3SGE swap to come), what spring rates did you end up running front and rear? love your work, been following this build since the start and it looks like so much fun cheers Matt
  13. Sorry, I read that wrong and thought they were to suit standard pulleys. I read your question on their page, can you machine the front of the stock pulley flat to suit their trigger wheel?
  14. I know where there's a couple of facelift wagons I want to check out for parts, I'll check what the lenses surrounds are like when I do. Best will be going to mine, but if there's a decent second pair we'll work something out
  15. Awesome, I was hoping they'd work not sure if these are S1 or S2 but there's reproduction lenses on eBay: http://www.ebay.com/itm/like/131991544822?dest=https%3A%2F%2Fitunes.apple.com%2Fapp%2Fapple-store%2Fid282614216%3Fpt%3D9247%26mt%3D8%26ct%3Duljs theres also full red US style available paint/patina decision is a long way off, it'll definitely get paint at some point, but I'll probably get it done and driving first cheers Matt
  16. I've been pretty slack, Perth summers are way to fucking hot for being in the garage. Finished stripping the steering and suspension today, it's all fairly tidy under the dirt, grease and surface rust. Am buying the parts new that I can get, inner tie rod ends could be a mission but all the other steering stuff is available, UCA bushes also seem to be a questionable item but I'm not sure if it's just a listing issue. Will clean up and paint the control arms, strip and check out the steering box, then clean and paint the front of the frame. So much parts to take up space! I measured up my old sedan chassis, not bolt on, and it was way more fucked than I was hoping, so I'm keeping an eye out for something with better front panels to grab, partly because I am missing most of the front end bolts and lights and shit like that. cheers Matt
  17. Your update reminded me that I saw this on crackbook and saved it to show you
  18. Pics fixed, resized them through Facebook (upload, download) then used the oldschool uploader. Still can't make photobucket work at all cheers Matt
  19. As promised! this is no diff, no front springs, but 100mm in rear (sitting on 100mm wooden blocks) and held up by the jack in the front (run out of blocks, but a little higher) so achievable ride height on springs in a 50 series crown. its purely for mockup, the wheels are so fucking shit, but came free with my hilux so will do for jobs like this. Definitely got me leaning towards 18's for the finished product though, but will be something a lot more traditional looking, billets would be nice but the stout taught me that I hate polishing wheels comparison height pic cheers Matt
  20. Haven't done a whole lot besides plan, or try to at least. Im pretty lost as to how I want to do things, but I'm meeting up with the guy who's got my old sedan so I can measure it up and discuss buying next week. I picked up the guards that came with it today, bolted them on for a look, but they're pretty rough. Hoping the sedan ones are usable, I know one was good and one had a big dent but was rust free, but still way better than the ones I've got. I'm also pulling out the diff and planning on chopping the front of the ute chassis off, will put it on casters so I can store it in the side of my carport while I sort out the sedan chassis, replace all the steering bits, bushes etc, and set the motor up in it. Once I decide on a motor. This post is worthless without pics!!! update tomorrow with mockup slam on wheels pics. Only got shitty 18's at the moment, but should give an idea of what I want height wise cheers Matt
  21. Just went back to the top of page one looking for a link to discussion. Fuck, what a difference!!! It's beautiful man, top job. Cheers Matt
  22. Not even a 1 double G? Sorry man, not keen
  23. A bluey/purpley one? It was only there for half an hour. How many cars have you OS stickered in Perth now?
