    Best LSD diff oil

Anyone got a recommendation for diff oil in an LSD? You can't go past good oil eh. Anyone using Redline?
  3. For anyone who's game and rocks a V8 or big 6, there were a few 4cyl escorts last time and that seemed to be sweet. meet at bishopdale carpark at 9pm more info see: http://forums.v8.co.nz/viewtopic.php?f=11&t=2220
  4. Good result man, thats 45kw more than when I had it with the wee t25 good shit. How about posting up the graph for us? What are you reving it to? How much boost?
  5. sweet got some bolts outta an old XF diff. just gotta drill the carrier now.. hopefully it's not hardened steel
  6. Dan have you checked out my capri one? I'm pretty sure the same design would work for your escort. can't see it too well in this shot but you get the idea.
  7. sure, people have been racing atlas diffs for years all the standard aftermarket parts are avail. LSD's etc. But pretty expensive for a new LSD unit unless you manage to score one out of a 2.8i S Capri but good luck finding one of those. I know one person who has one in his garage but he won't sell. lol http://www.palmside.co.nz/parts.asp?mak ... egory=DIFF
  8. Right, so no that won't work. The new crown-wheel holes are bigger so I need to get the correct bolts for it then drill out the carrier to suit the bigger bolts. Don't know what the diff is out of.. apparently it's out of a MK1 Capri from Australia. Maybe even a Perana Capri.. I thought maybe it was a Holden Borg Waner or Falcon.. but my mechanic buddy doesn't reckon it is. Mayb Valiant. The bolts look like 7/16 UNF
  9. guess I could see if someones got a few scales I could put one under each side and total the weight. Don't know about year, it's out of a V6 MK1 Capri so will be between 1969-73 If the 3.22 doesn't suit then you can swap crown wheels from any atlas ie. a 3.54 or 3.77 from a 2L capri. But only the V6 MK1 had the narrow atlas that all the escort boys want. About 2" shorter than a standard Atlas.
  10. Baby Atlas Diff from a Mk1 3L Capri Good for 200 odd hp which is more than you'll 2L be making. Fit straight in, has brackets for anti-tramp bars, same stud pattern for your wheels, big 3L drum brakes. I happen to have one for sale soon if you're interested.
  11. it's a 25-spline axle everything was going sweet until we noticed the crown-wheel holes were a different size. How do you bushes work??
  12. Got a borg waner 78 LSD diff which is going in my capri. Has a 3.23 LSD in it. Don't like the ratio with my C4 auto so I got a 2.92 crown wheel & pinion and had that shot-peened. Now just as the assembly is going well we've noticed that the crown wheel bolt holes are a different size. Does anyone know anything about these diff gears? Anyone got some diff gear bolts I think they're 7/16 UNF
  13. Nissan have the T5 as well, same as falcon I believe. I know Nismo's got a T5 behind his VG30DET you'd need to change bellhousing of course. Although people have put toyota boxes behind V8's I've heard the ratios don't suit.

WELL that is a BIG difference lol Well the Hilly is running awesome now anyway.. put a chem weld in the head and that fixed it. We're gonna run it as it is until is shits itself then we'll look at getting a Hunter unit. Or maybe get a hunter unit and store it so it's there when we need it. You still got them i500gt?
  15. If you want it mega-cheap go to the metal scrap yard on annex rd. My mate made a whole stainless exhaust from there for his SR coupe by buying a bunch of various straight pipe and bends from annex rd metals. Cost him fuck all.
  16. man.. I was gutted I missed it. Got to the corner and fucking car spat a radiator hose.. turned around and went home Next time boes
  17. Hey just seen this.. I'm keen to come along, so is it 11am then? I'm keen for gebbies pass thats an awesome drive.
  18. The EA's were always a problem... mainly in the electrical department. My EBII's never missed a beat but everyone I know with an EA has had strange issues with electrical faults. You should take off the idle-air valve thingy that sits ontop of the throttlebody. It'll no doubt be full of black shit. Clean it out using meths and a small wire brush and rags, soak a small bit of rag in meth and poke it all around inside it. Put it back together and it can make a massive difference to driveability.. mainly in idle department though. Or get an EB wags and you'll never have any probs.

    RT's Capri

Yeah JR I know we have almost identical cars now.. but I always wanted mine black soo it had to be done sorry. Anyway.. for the amount of driving we do people will think it's the same mean black capri getting around so double the props! In the past 10 years I've only seen you twice on the road. With hundreds or people with similar looking cars I'm sure it's not the end of the world. If it is we could always have a black capri drag race show down and winner keeps the paint job.
  20. I'm Loving it like Mc'D's bro. Tis really nice job. Good work! Satin bonnet and scoop looks great imo Looking back at original pics.. it's scary what kind of rust can be lurking around under a seemingly mint exterior eh? You'd never know! (also who's is that new mustang on the first page? - I love those..)

    RT's Capri

Cheers for the comments guys! Gotta fix and paint my front spoiler yet. Looks a bit weird without it imo. Treg - Yeah the only red is the steering wheel really? (red was factory oldschool on my interior fyi) Thinking about putting my old deepdish wildcat wheel back on. Chrome - Nah I bought it in 1999 off someone on Main North Rd. Fuzz - Yeah the 'arrow' hole was actually a result from already having a couple of nostrels cut in the bonnet buldge when it was turbod. It was the only way to do it but I do think it looks pretty cool.
  22. Henry once said 'you can have it in any colour as long as it's black.' pretty much agree in this case anyway, there is only one colour for a capri with a V8 in it in my opinion, and that's bogan jet black. So it had to be done. Just back from teh paint shop. prolly the last time it will stay this clean as well lol
  23. If it just puffs white smoke a little then it could be piston rings or valve seals.. if it's a lot of white smoke then it's probably turbo seals.

Sounds good to me, I'll talk to the GF and see what she wants to do. I suggested that we get one to store up in the shed uncase the minx engine ever lets go after it's 40 years of hardship. Can you explain what the internal differences/advantages are with the Hunter engines?
