  1. Hey mate i think i have "saved" a post on FB marketplace... ill flick you a PM somewhere along the way. It would be great if i could come see ya for a sharn and to measure up etc, IF i do go down this road i basically want a whole car (both subframes, motor, box, driveshaft, diff, all hubs, handbrake +cables and loom <<suddenly realises how easy a low power carbed 13B BP conversion would be>> not sure enough power, maybe a supercharged carb setup.... ruins the sleeper look tho.... be a bit of a giveaway haha altho a carb setup sorts a lot of a the loom issues and would sound pretty damn good.
  2. Dunno if I could handle a non turbo tho lol. it wasn’t an option tbh as I assumed it would be too big for the engine bay but I might measure one up anyways
  3. That’s very cool. My mate has a big hp ez30 build so it prolly worth further investigation
  4. Its also about the width as well, but ill certainly look into it
  5. It’s prolly been answered (lazy) but what is the length of the block?
  6. 1st day back in the office… not so fun after 6 hrs me- hey boss it’s a nice day and summers running out I’m take the rest of the day off to work on my new car boss - another car?! And ok soo off I trudged to do some work. Dash out, loom out, any easy to remove stuff out, motor and box still in but about 10 bolts or less to pull it. Thought I took an in cab shot but clearly not Couple of rust pics to keep you entertained with a side of 18in for the lols
  7. Not too bad (the rust) at least it’s easily fixed and hidden. Unless this is a dereg job? (Didn’t read all the tread -my bad)
  8. yea i have seen a few EJ swaps particaullry in the 2nd gen, they also had to notch the chassis to fit a quad cam - altho the twin cams just fit, one of the biggest issues for an early model subaru rally cars are the handbrakes on the front wheels, preventing a lot of the handbrake entries into tight corners. It would be interesting to see exaclty what model it was and how much he notched out of the chassis, and for sure ask about the stud pattern upgrade, eventually ill replace the entire suspection to suit but am interested in how others have approached the 4x140 PCD issue.
  9. Couple pics while I was broken down this afternoon… plus a few photos of the easy to spot rust (the rest is lurking in the shadows for another day) Going to attempt to start the motor then strip the interior next time I’m there. Will only be able to take out what fits in the boot/back seat of the daily as I will have to store all that off site Also does anyone have any ideas where to get a decent car cover. The generic ones are trash lol or anyone have anything suitable they are not using?
  10. Where it’s parked has a lot of v8s on the shelf… if I told him I wanted to LS it or supercharge some V8 he would be happy as to assist… as soon as he sniffs a turbo V8 it would be dragged outside with a forklift and used as target practice.. But I do like the idea
  11. Got a lead on a parts car that looks like it might have some bits and pieces. Massive thanks for that piece of spicy intel. Really need a “plates on hold” parts car….iykyk
  12. Yea. I mean in regards to butchering a manifold for injectors etc for an engine that wouldn’t be able to handle 100hp. Hate to think how small the rods are yet alone how weak everything else is
  13. Efi setup would be completely custom. Although doable. Seem like a massive waste of time and effort vs an engine swap
  14. Yea lots of people have put ej’s in front of the later Leone box with an adapter plate. Not sure if many turbo them tho. Could go less power but certainly want something capable of 400. I have been dreaming of this since I had my last 70s 4wd wagon.
  15. I’ll get some dimension put up once I have a chance to get to the car. I think they are tortion bar/independent setup same as the later model leones but big brakes/hub assembly etc would be ideal
  16. Here we go……quite a few sharns were had about this project at Nat’s 23. While I was meeting a bunch of good bastards, a mate of mine went and picked this absolute weapon of a vehicle up for me. No wof, no rego, no cert and certainly no worries -yup it is rusty and dereg. Few things I want to accomplish in no particular order…. ~400hp capable motor- still to be decided thanks for a lot of interesting suggestions. The chassis rails are quite narrow so really limiting if I don’t want to chop the chassis if you have anything unique, throw up a comment in the discussion thread. Keep it 4x4. Likely with a 6speed box etc - this is where it will get a bit over the top to actually make this work, will certainly need some kind of brake upgrade and probably lots of custom kit to make it all work Fix the rust- a loooot of rust. Get it back on the road. Certed etc I do realise this is not going to be a cheap or quick project and it maybe a case of putting on the road in somewhat stock form first then chopping it. The good things: It’s quite complete and runs and drives (or at least did recently) It’s reasonably straight Pic below of my mate collecting it.
  17. The tone was a lighthearted challenge. Clearly lost in the text More around those that know something is gunna fail but sends it in for inspection anyways..
  18. Take it as a personal challenge to clean sheet wof... go on, you wont.
  19. I think rust is fair game for a WOF inspector, in most cases it could be easily hidden... i expect to have to fix something every wof, usually minor but it appears to be the nature of an old car that hasnt been restored. Im sick of doing rust tho... but have got on top of all the typical spots....
  20. I think you should slap an old 18r in it and drive it, very quickly you will gain an appriecation regarding the loss of power and the motivation will kick back in (unless your daily is a bit of a weapon )
  21. thread dredge here, just reading thru some old builds, i see it's been a couple of years since the TT setup was started, has there been any more progress?
  22. Maybe it’s that piece that the wof man wants fix not so much the guard?
