Also my bike has a fucked battery, a loose chain, and a sloppy cush drive. Lol.
All good mate! Mine's the same. Except I have a new battery, and even treated the A100 to a lush o-ring chain for max 'fuck you dust' factor. Eastcapescapade stretched my last high-grade Chinesium chain 15mm.

Probably pay to tag them. I expect they're not following this thread religiously due to the crippling disappointment of not being able to come.
TBH, I don't actually know who all the Auckland guys are other than @Tumeke

Yeah so us Auckland guys are not allowed.
Guess we will do out own ride in a few weeks.
We're (me & @Pee Dubs & Steve Aiken) curious about your accommodation. Not to be the vulturous bastards that swoop in on your Covid misfortunes, but what are the odds we could snap up some of what you guys were planning? We're a bit stuck for Nelson epecifically.
EDIT: And @governorsam is curious too... About Blenheim.- 2

Yeah no problem
Benchtop mounted?
Na, might leave the bench top behind. No need to be that guy.

How big are they?
We have two 70 series cruisers with trailers. Maybe bring garbage bags to keep the dust off them if they need to go on a trailer?
My tent is about 80mm dia by about 400mm long packed. Fucking tiny. Also worst tent ever cause it’s tiny when put up too.

^ I also
I got no problem carrying bags, gear etc, if you're packing light.
No room for kitchen sinks
How do you feel about transporting 2 tents and possible a buttler's sink? They're more compact than your average kitchen sink.

Yo!
Just to confirm...
1. $20 Event Entry
2. $20 Parking
3. $20 Rainbow Road Toll (Bring Cash)What exactly do we need to pay up front to that bank account?

Thanks, I think I have a plan forming involving the ferry.
Logistics of camping shouldn't be too bad for those not flying. I've checked out the websites for where the drinking team have booked, shared tent sites should be no problem and work out super cheap.
Hanmer: Alpine Adventure Park - $32, up to 8 ppl
Blenheim: Blenheim Bridges Holiday Park - $42, up to 8 ppl
Nelson: Paradiso Backpackers - $59, up to 6 ppl (This is a bit more expensive, but I think someone mentioned it's worth avoiding the big parks in Nelson over Summer)
Who else is keen to form a camping group?
I might be keen! Do they have cabins at these sites? My tent is the shittiest tiny tent ever...

I rode Hanmer to Hornby in 2 hours full throttle the whole way on my CT 2 years ago.
Planning on doing the same again
As long as you don’t end up like the guy on Eastcapescapade who bent a valve the night before an hour or so from the start line! -
Also, do we have a rough idea of when we expect to be back in Hanmar Springs by on the Sunday?
From what I can tell, the roads aren't too windy like Eastcapescapade, so 200km won't take that long right? -
@Pee Dubs
Whereabouts are you based? -

Damn have only just seen this but sounds grouse & reckon I could make it for that weekend too.
Who’s still planning to go from the NI? @Truenotch@WankBankA100@Tumeke I have a small car trailer that could transport a few bikes across the strait and to/from Hanmer if that helps?
I’ve never done this type of ride before so a few things to sort. ‘Big block’ 400 will be kinda cheating but hopefully ok unless I can quickly find something smaller for cheap.
Wait one please caller...
I'm heading down with a long tray single cab ute. Looks like I might be taking @Truenotch's bike down and mine, but there'll be space on the ute for another bike, maybe 2 more at a massive push. Save the trailer on ferry costs?
-
If there’s anyone who’s keen to go but doesn’t have a bike, I can loan you one! My mate has surgery booked in a few days before, so is gonna be a no-show.

Fuck yeah! Is there a cutoff for entry? I've got some arm twisting/threatening still to do.

There will be a form, as that will give us a spreadsheet with next of kin etc (I already have most of your wives and mothers phone numbers pewhuhuhu)
I looked into the public liability aspect for the datsun club when the health and safety act was updated in 2017(?)
Volunteer organizations are exempt.
Koha will be to cover roadside BBQ, fuel for back up vehicles, spare fuel for the back up vehicles to carry, and any other incidentals.
Theres only really a couple more details to finalize, and a form will be out.
The north island pest had a $20 donation. I dunno if that's too much or not?
I’m only too happy to pay $20! It’s the cheapest fun you can have for $20 koha. Only thing I can think of that’s cheaper is 3 days of self pleasure.

Then if something happens, just say to the authorities, “We were supposed to have breakfast, then these cunts kept following me for thee days!”

Make it an entry form for breakfast only on day 1...
-
Do we have one of those forms to fill out like Johnnyfive does for Te Undertaking?
-
I’m starting to get quite excited about this...

Also, there is one extremely important detail that needs to be discussed. Is there a South Island equivalent of China Palace that we can terrorize during a dinner session?

I'm looking at heading down with my ute and perhaps a trailer (if the bike numbers add up beyond 3 bikes) from Hamilton on the Thursday, then back on the Monday. I need to start planning as part of the fizz build up process. Any interest in throwing a bike at me, preferably not literally?

So we got a date yet for next year's event?
