  2. i certed my van for $430,that included,engine swap,new mounts and xmembers,lowering,wheels,gauges,steering wheel,and exhaust being only 80mm off the ground...
  3. are you all talkiong bout a boot release?cos my escort has one...it had it from factory....little chrome handle next to the seat....
  4. yup....you learn something new every day... axle stands must go under the chassis rails.... on a escort the strut doesnt come away from the hub assy....its all one piece...youll get to hate it as much as me....i had to take off the sway bar and control arms to get mine out....such a bitch... anybody got an easier way to get front coils out of a escort?
  5. youll only need a spring compressor for the front.....or you could do it the rangi way.with the car on the ground,undo the spear nut,jact the car up and the spring unloads inside the wheel arch not reccomended... the leaves are easy though...if you just put blocks in,put your escy on axle stands,undo the U-bolt nuts that hold the diff to the leaves,jack the diff up so you can slot the blocks between the diff and the leaves,lower it back down onto the blocks,make sure the lugs and holes are lined up or you block will pop out,put your new U-bolts on like the old ones were,do up the nuts,do them up tight,take the car for a spin around the block,jack it up again and retighten the nuts if needed....some settling does happen with blocks.... the front of escorts are a pain in the arse...so i found anyway....i just left standard capri coils in the capri struts...sits low enough...might upgrade to kings later though once its all going...with the 17"s on it and spoiler fitted.....so i can check clearances etc...and ill ave to get the gaurds rolled/pumped/lipped etc...
  6. mate....this type of post is exactly what we need..... when you read in classic ford mag and read that its been turreted and 4 linked and yadda yadda.....its really good to see what the hell they mean and how its actually done... mad props to you mate..(good shit!!(cheers)) now...wheres that coilover conversion id love to see how to do that on the cheap(but not budget)

    well yeah for sure....but if you wanna pay for lowered leaves you might as well buy a single leaf conversion....better ride and good slamming....you dont get twist etc.....only $180

    my last ride past a wof with the springs lifted and flipped to the top....i was told as long as you keep the main spring(the one with the bushes/shackles) is in its original location ie: not flipped... ive seen a courier ute that had flipped leaves,it got hit on the rear 1/4,snapped the leaf at the bush keeper due to the reversed action of travel= weakened leaves.... in my ute (rx3ute) all i did in the rear was remove 4 leaves(from 7!), took the middle 2 and flipped them in between the main and the lower leaf(about 10" long)...so i still had all the strenght left in them,but the 2 flipped leaves helped lift the diff up,still had a mint ride..i also had 50mm blocks..... if your gonna change your suspension...do it right....dont cut corners:ie leave shit undone/unclamped etc.... make sure shit dont rub when its lowered.....saves alot of other probs.... just my $1 worth i guess....
  9. i had a mk5 cortina and changed the 4 speed to a 5er.....i actually prefered the 4speed....i have a rs2000 box in my esky.... but im thinking of pulling the motor out and selling that in favour of a more modern engine------zetec or cossy......mmmmmm
  10. in the uk they have normal looking eskys stated as rs2000s...
  11. yeah should have time on saturday.... not all rs2000s had the droopy front..i think they were the later model ones like around 79/80...?????
  12. yeah we had a few 2L mk2s...there are quite a few rs2000s too.you just have to look in the right places...
  13. hi, do you know if there are injected ford sierras over here? what year were they made?do you know of any getting wrecked? id like to find all of the injection system to put on my 2L turbo... if you have all the injection gear(manifold,loom,ecu etc) id be keen to buy it off you.....or swap for my rebuilt 45mm webber sidey,or garret intake manifold? help me please!!!!!
  14. i got a new momo that was in my legacy.....id love to put it in my esky but have been told you cant get bosskits for them... any help?anyone know if you can get momo boss kits ford escorts? if not ill just put it in my van..
  15. i used to have a 4dr esky,it had a 2l cortina motor and 4speeder in it...didnt look like it had a modded sump ae.... just use a cortina box....the esky box is too small... you can come see mine if you want....if you need a hand i maybe able to help out
  16. yeah bo... my 2l uses esky mounts from the original 1300...clears the firewall by 10-15mm,it does have a modded sump though,im using a rs2000 box.. you will need to had a driveshaft customed up no matter what box you use.and a gearbox xmember,depending on boxes though,i had a mk5 cortina xmember on my last esky...youll need to trim on the radiator support panel and get a b2000/mk5 2l radiator or better..mount that flush with the front of the engine bay,the core is a perfect match for the gap.... theres a 2L esky at bj's in wiri but someones already taxed the mounts,maybe you should go grab the sump and pickup.... have fun....

  18. .hey guys.....i need to upgrade my brakes on my esky..... ive seen gt familia discs on a mk1 esky before but not sure if there were a simple fit.... anyone know? didnt some sierra wagons come out with vented discs?or are the stud pattern different on those ones? if you have discs to suit my car please sell them to me....

  21. theyr bloody cheap in the us ae......guys try to sell them for mega bucks here but you cant rhd convert them without a pile of hassle...the steering swap is easy as with a b1600..same chassis except for the front clip.. but the dash would be a bitch ae? rx utes all the way.....i use to own RX3UTE...

    i had 2 switches in my ute.....one for ignition and fuel pump,and the other was for the fan....plus it had a alarm with remote start,2 sirens always helps too..i had one hidden in the engine bay (could never find it) and one in the main pillar insde a vent type thing covered in valour.....loud as a mofo....you couldnt sit in it when it goes off ae....oh and it was at head hight..
