  1. the standard escort tank is in the drivers rear corner.if it got hit there itd be fukt aswell...and its not burst proof,fuk they used plastic fuel lines!!!
  2. 500x500x300 is 75L ae?i was shit at maths at school i had a look under the escort,itll fit sweet,the escorts boot floor is fairly flat. ill just cut a hole,drop it in,and bolt it in with some nyloc nuts. ill need to plumb in a return outlet in the tank somewhere though. i wonder if i can get a pipe to go from the droptank filler to the original escort filler ill mount the fuel pump on the boot floor under the body next to the tank aswell.itll make running fuel lines easy as.. so it doesnt need a protective gaurd under the tank at all?i guess as long as its not in danger of being smashed into the ground when its low ae....

  4. well i had it for sale while my "dream car' was on offer,but thats now been sold,so im keeping the escort.. just bought a droptank.. only about 200mm will sit under the body by the looks of the mounting strap/plate welded around it. it was on trademe for $100... 500x500x300..
  5. hey guys. im looking at putting a droptank into the escort. wanna know if it has to be double walled? ie sitting in a seperate bucket/box thing..
  6. well i finished the mounts on the crossmember today. went to do the gearbox mount.decided to cut the rubber escort mount out with the grinder.. big fukn mistake!!!im covered in little bit of soft rubber....gay..oh,and the house fille dup with rubber smoke.. oops then i found out ill have to cut the side of the tunnel for the starter motor,cos its too narrow for it to fit in..gay.. atleast the engine and box is sitting in there unassisted by jacks i know one mount looks crooked,it is on purpose... the engine bracket is on that angle. now it leaves enough room for a sump to be made.
  7. sweet dude.. i started making my mounts today until my grinder blew up..im not gonna drive for 2.5hrs to buy a new one.so ill just borrow works grinder for a bit.. im planning on running to runners off the escort mounts forward to the engine bracket..im using 100x8mm plate... the headers will be the fun part...
  8. well i was making the mounts today...got half way through cutting the steel and my grinder gave up in a puff of smoke.. dang...might go steal works grinder for a couple of days
  9. dont chop the entire mount of yet.. i chopped mine down by half.cos ive figured a good way to mount it off the crossmember instead of the chassis rail.. have you figured out a return line for your tank? i take it well have to put our fuel lines on the passengers side? i thought of running them in the car next to the tunnel.. mm PP... who built your motor?
  10. haha... fuk theres some wicked quotes on this forum..^^^^ just put new pics up from todays 2hours of hacking.. bloody steering is still giving me the shit burgers. got it to clear and shit,will have to make a pair of headers now,FUCK YOU steering rack! sump doesnt look like itll be too bad ae,ill just make a box type bowl for the front,and have a flat rear pan..the pick up goes straight down from in front of the steering rack now so its all G...

  14. pics from the other day... because of the stupid location of the steering rack,its in the way of the sump...so i need to mod the tunnel and firewall..
  15. was just gonna buy the steel for it cos i live in fox glacier,thats 2.5hr from greymouth and 5.5hr from chch,no steel shop here... that cable-hyd thingy i can make myself.. thats if i can get a new slave for the box.. i dont have a driveshaft for it yet,ill need to locate a yoke.. was alos thinking of putting in a hilux diff as the early ones bolt straight in apparently.. if im gonna start cutting it up for the 10a and box to fit i might aswell go all out on everything else aswell ae. just gotta find a way to get the front hubs to 5 stud without being too damn expensive..

  17. wicked...what engine have you got in there?is that a 13b? you should get my 10a and put the pp housings in it.. 10aPP FTW.. the van is sick..repaint it a stock colour. i love how the roof line is the same as the beetle in the shed..

  19. in the jetta? find another model car with the same mounting setup but a short overall shock. i know of the ae87 type fxgt's take a ae92 fxgt shock and it lowers it by a bit with changing springs etc..
  20. whats eveyones opinion of this and what i should do? should it get caged? PP the 10a? drop tank? colour? interior?
  21. had a go at mocking up a tunnel today.. can get the steel etc,but need to find a mig welder somewhere on the coast! ive got an arc but they suck balls.
