  1. did 99% of my fuel system this morning.. mounted the pump, ran the hose from the tank to the pump,i had to snake it around the back of the leaf spring, didnt want it between the leaf springs and body. ran the main line down under the back seat, through the seat support rail(?) along the base of the tunnel and up through the old heater holes in the firewall. then ran the return the same way and hooked it up to the pump with the joiner i rangied up..i still need to attach the hose to the rear around the spring area, and put hose clamps on and put the fuel filter inline.. i also cable tied the hoses together.. i figured ill run the hoses next to the drivers seat rail. because theyr fixed back setas on non sliding railings theres no moving parts to catch them and munt them for fire effects.. odd seeing 3 hoses going to the pump ae,2 on the t piece is the tank on the bottom and the return on the top..im sure itll work sweet thoughts?? does anyone have any idea what this thing on the side of my carby is? the bit with the terminals on it>>>>>im stumped..
  2. ive met ya..you aint a skinny little white boy like me.. youv actually got muscles on ya bones do you get to work on it at ya work?you definately have the room there.. outside anyway..
  3. Build Thread //oldschool.co.nz/index.php?/topic/20448-mrmk1s-1968-mazda-bongo-f1000-van/?p=525393 gutted i didnt jump on it straight away.. glad its gone to a good home where its bound to get a raging PP. but dude,i have no idea how youll get your ass in that midget van.. haha.. your plans??????
  4. ok,took a chill pill.... havent totally given up on it yet.. my clutch slave arrived yesterday..although a bit pissed theres no rod/pin with it.. then i pondered over the fact that the hose fitting is a banjo type. but...i just found a stash of braided brake hoses i have and hey presto, pimp bling status for clutchness... still waiting for these bloddy spacer plates to arrive that were supposedly sent on the 6th!!! gonna order half a sheet of 3mm steel too so i can make a new sump. or will 1.6mm or 2mm be better.. i think the stuff ive been using is only .8mm or 1mm.. its damn thin,so any kind of arc effect blows it out..grr
  5. my old rx7 did that, then one day i went for a drive and it went bang and you could hear the pinion spinning on the crownwheel. turned out the pinion bearing was buggered and caused the pinion teeth tips to wear out and there was nothing left to grab...luckily i was only 200m from home..
  6. are you allowed to run fuel lines inside the car? i was gonna run mine along the bottom of the tunnel and up through the firewall where the heater pipes used to go..
  7. had nothing but tyre kickers and ball scratchers..
  8. ell i have no sump anymore... got so pissed off with it it bashed the shit out of it with a sledge hammer. fukn holes kept blowing through,it wouldnt seal, and its fukn ugly. spent atleast 8 hours on the fukn heap of shit.. gonna go get some 3mm plate to do it instead on the thin bullshit. ggrrrr very bad mood now..
  9. i got non efi hose 7m for $15 yeah.. efi hose i used to get at $10 per M..
  10. bit by bit at the moment...no set date to get it going ae.. all i need to do to have it fired up is finish off the sump, and oil pickup. find a long oil cooler hose.fill it with oil, water etc,run fuel lines and mount fuel pump. maybe make an exhaust pretty damn close really ae.. just little things that take time..
  11. parts arriving all over the place, clutch slave arrived today.welder arrived the other day, already spent hours on it. just won an auction for a rx2 radiator which will fit mint,so out with the bongo radiator. now to see i can rig up a heater core..
  12. well ive been getting fully F***D off this last few days. i ordered 2 plates to be made at the local engineers on the 6th june. apparently theyv been made and put on a courier but they still havent f--n arrived..called in there today and they have no idea where they are....grrr i need them so i can put my sump on to check clearances again and make up my headers before pulling the motor back out to finish welding the tunnel and fire wall.which is finally making progress. basically got the whole of one side welded up,along the top of the firewall, and part way along the other side.. once that sides done, ill make up the little box cover type shapey thing to go where the starter sits, then weld that up. then ill under seal the bottom of the tunnel and pooh up the firewall and get the engine bay ready for a splash of paint.. then obviously paint the engine bay.. still tossing up whether or not to rebuild the motor, but ive applied for a job in japan so i may really need to sell by the end of the year anyway. but any progress is good even if it is slow and painful..
  13. have you checked for error codes?check engine light on at all?
  14. ^^^^ just for that comment im gonna set idle at 2500rpm! open headers.... should be sick.. just gotta find a workshop manual somehow.....havent been able to find a 10a rx3 manual.only 12a
  15. well after the effort and success i put in yesterday i thought id have a go at arc welding my gearbox tunnel.. not recommended but it got most of it done. after about 2million spot welds, gay arc eyes now. 16 blow thrus..grrr. ive got the main part of the tunnel welded to the firewall, and just tacked the sides on. but ended up cutting a new hole for the starter to fit in. spot welding with an arc welder is not good for it,and its slow and sucks arse. but im getting there and i dont need to buy a mig FTW.. i wonder if i can get a good enough arc weld going to do the sump aswell? think i might just tack it together and get a panelbeater to finish it off.
  16. yeah,i chopped the bottom off it.and welded a bit of flat bar to it for the gearbox mount to sit on.. its primo. i found making a xmember off the swaybar mounts is ideal cos the bolt holes in the chassis are tubed,so its strong, and if you wanna put a different motor in later you just unbolt the mounts and get new swaybar mounts.better than welding to the chassis i thought..
  17. any progress? i just redid all my mounts etc.. better alignment etc..
  18. wow,had a huge burst of enthusiasm today and unassisted by drugs. just made my gearbox mount, its all honky dory and sitting pretty.. only have the sump, tunnel and drive shaft to do,then exhaust... and because i managed to make new mounts and things, its made the tail housing of the gearbox more level so theres heaps less angle for the driveshaft yoke..
  19. well i feel very productive today. spent a couple of hours in the shed. cut off the old ugly mofo mounts, and made up my brand new good looking crossmember.. you can see in the pic the ugly mounts on escort xmember, and new crossmember above it. the xmember is actually the swaybar mount brackets, with a cross bar..rx7 rubber mounts and 75x75 angle as a front bracket,so simple,i cant believe i didnt think of doing this at the start.. its also dropped the engine down a bit too which is good.and pulled it forward probably 20mm. which means bigger sump bowl..im still waiting for my crossmember spacers and grip washers for the front..then i can put the escort xmember back in and the do the gearbox mount..
  20. do you know if they modify speedo cables? i need a mazda box speedo drive mated to a ford speedo head.. basically running mazda box in a ford.. sorry for the hijack..
  21. i figured out how ill do the dip stick,i took the dipstick and tube off the escort 1300 motor, and ill just weld a 10mm pipe into the sump to fit the escort tube onto...bingo.. ive also decided to redo the engine mounts cos i just cant stand the look of them.. plus the way im doing them now will allow the use of a 12a or 13b later on if needed.. will do most of the new mount design this weekend, and hopefully mount the fuel pump. i come up with a cool idea for seat mounts for the racetchs aswell cos mounting them to the escort rails made them sit too high.. i wanna be below the door like a mofo gangster yo...
  22. not much progress... just sat the sump i made in the to see how itll sit and things.. i then figured that ill throw away the engine mount design i made up and make a whole new one.. i just dont like the look of the current one.while looking at it for 10mins i came up with an awesome way to mount it,that will be stronger and better looking, and able to bolt a 12a or 13b onto it later on if i decide to throw the 10a out..but yet again im stopped in my tracks by a lack of mig welder.. kinda sucks not working either cos i can save to buy one.. in other news,i sorted my fuel return, now i dont know 100% if itll work, but a scabbed a t piece fitting off the escort manifold, and it was a perfect fir to the fuel pump, basically ill have my return running into the fuel pump intake as you can see from the pic.. do you guys think itll work?
  23. are you actually thinking about selling this????? pm me if ya are
  24. well, i won a set of water seals on trademe for the 10a.. so looks like the PP build wont be too far away, even though its back on trademe.. everytime it goes on there and get calls etc i get motivated to do something on it,and end up buying parts.. so bought the seals.need to find the other bits too.corner seals, rotor bearings etc.. bought 7M of 3/8" fuel hose aswell...trademe is good for buying.. it would be nice to find a set of 10a endplates somewhere so i can fill the ports in for dedicated PP motor. will also need a 12a front cover and electronic dizzy...and gilmours
