  1. f you dont have a flexi in your exhaust and you have a vibration it can make it leak,or crack the exhaust..

  3. i would have to say im actually kinda lucky,my mate gave me a 2 layer race suit and a pair of race boots and a neck brace(360 one not horseshoe).some tear offs, he also lent me him mackin phat helmet but it was too big so i splashed out on a brand new Nolan helmet with tear off posts etc..shouldnt skimp on a helmet ae...would love to get it airbrushed.. not sure if i can get away with wearing motorcross gloves but ill give it a go.. so my safety gear is sorted,and only cost $240,and that was for the helmet which was on special,normally $795 or something like that.. would love to get a custom full containment seat ae. the belts in the car are current too
  4. will only fix what i break...i can see how itll get out of hand ae.. built myself a tyre rack today for the truck,i saw this steel frame sticking out of the grass next to the neighbors place,so we yanked it out, and it had a good shape for a tyre rack,so i welded it to the truck after i shortened it up and cut out a rust section of it.. sweet..freebie nothing nadda... im waiting to hear back from the guy with the car to find out the exact length of it so i can order steel if i need to lengthen the deck...looks alot shorter than it is...
  5. if it does exist i wouldnt get it done ae.. could you imagine what it would look like if it chipped?? powder coating is a bitch once its chipped,it starts lifting. sure its hardy against scratches but ive seen alot of stuff powder coated.. if you dont wanna be polishing all the time cant you just spray on a 2k clear over it??
  6. how hard is it to wire up a bike? do they use fuels pumps?? so god damn tempted to do this to the escort now ae.but over a long period of time cos my cash bucket(stockcar) will chew up all available funds for a while ae.. i guess with the esky itll need to use fibreglass guards,bonnet and boot,lexan side windows, lightened doors,no interior...be a wicked hillclimber...
  7. cheers dude..drove it home yesterday from temuka,up to chch,then down through arthurs pass. sits on 100kph easy,but no exhaust brake going down otira sux balls....dont wanna do that with a stockcar on the back it pops out of 3rd sometimes,but its sweet if you hold the stick up in 3rd,so i guess the detaunts need to be checked.. ill also need to check the throttle return springs too cos when you change gear it doesnt return to idle it just keeps revving away...its fukn annoying as for ramps,i will not need to make them,the sideboards are made from 40x40 3mm rhs by the looks,so plenty strong enough,but i will get some 25x25 angle to brace the board,and make a ramp pin to lock it to the deck while loading. overall im stoked with the truck,its got a brand new COF,reg til Nov,new glow plugs, just been serviced,had 2500kms extra RUC,but ive used half of that driving home. and the heater is awesome..
  8. righto,so after months of hacking grinding and welding,scratching head and my nuts..i decided to sell the 10a,and go back to the piston... mainly due to my stockcar arriving and needing to spend time on that instead. so,the engine and box has been sold. the racetechs have been sold.. so now im left with a rolling body with and enlarged tunnel. question is,what the fuk am i gonna put in it??? ive got the original 1300 here,but its no tyre burner. trying to find a cortina/sierra motor down here is like finding a golden pube... 4age would be the go but the gearboxs are worth too much for some reason...??? a rwd ca18de would be nice too,but i really dont want to have to take the booster out. so not left with alot of choice except going the flinstone route.. so i went out and bought a brand new pair of shoes,cut a big hole in the floor, and painted bones on the side of the car.. no but seriously i have no idea what im gonna do with this... anyone got any reasonable ideas that wont cost the earth,seeing as ive already spent $8k + in the last month on a stockcar and a truck,new helmet and shit....and i still need to spend more..doh.

  11. ok get this shit....just did a google on detaunts.. came up with nothing much except a 4x4 site for toyota guys.. from what i could understand( me understand little english speak) the detaunts are a spring with a ballbearing underneath,these sit under a bolt/bung thing on the gearbox casing,and they stop the selector shaft from sliding back and forth by the spring pushing the ball bearing into a groove on the shaft?????????????????????? is this right???better be cos i got a headache now from thinking about that... so do the springs get soft?or do they break?
  12. 4age 20v would be slick as in it. never seen a 2dr before..id paid more for a car in same condition, primered it and doubled my money so as long as you dont try and insert a twin headlight kit and a ugly intercooler i think youll be fine doing whatever to it.. how bout put a 10a in it??i know of a good un for sale cheap

  14. what would cause a gearbox to jump out of gear? is it something coming loose inside or just worn stuff? im not too clued up on gearbox's.. at work our old hack truck is jumping out of 3rd.. its a bitch.. any ideas? will it need to be rebuilt? cheers fellas
  15. could be anything with those ae. my 1st car was a 69 hunter,ran like crap quite often,found it kept burning out plugs,but the mixture was fine,put hot plugs in it,went good for a day or 2 then starting farting round,new ignition sets,timing,different carby,fuel filter etc etc.. ended up putting in a sparkplug set from a mitsy mirage(no idea what they were),werent meant for the hunter at all..chucked in some avgas...went like hell,the next day i spun it up into a ditch.. oops so yeah,just go over everything like the gaps on ya plugs,points,cap and rotor condition, check the carby , diaphram may have a hole in it,fuel filter.. if you plan on keeping it for a while put a new filter in it anyway.
  16. mk2 truck,rated to 4430kg,dual wheel diff,massive drum brakes,but 2L pinto power.. has a bellhousing to fit a holden 6 to the current toyota box thats in it.

  20. see my stocky is 1440kg,id take atleast 6 wheels with tyres. airtank,toolchest,jack,axle stands,spare hubs and axles. fuel containers,spare wheel gates etc.. so the trailer alone with all that on it will weigh atleast 2500kg. so itll need to be a tandem sprung braked trailer. cant get one for under $3000 basically for a decent one. so im more thinking along the lines of a small truck rated to around 4500kg GVM,truck will weigh in around 2-2500kg depending on what it is. will look for one with an exhaust brake i have an exhaust brake sitting under my bench but not too sure how to plumb it up so itll work as an exhaust brake..
  21. just thought id try to tap in to my redneck roots and race a stockcar for a season or 2.. this one is powered by a EL falcon straight 6. tagged in behind is a falcon box. mazda diff and apparently mazda hubs.. will have the same ford Y body but of a uglier condition but that doesnt matter due to it needing a paint anyway just incase those mega million dollar sponsors wanna see how beautifully maintained it is

  23. so do you guys know of any diesel motors that will bolt to a pinto bellhousing or a holden 6 bellhousing by any chance?? i know diesel is the way to go here,or big cc which also means big fuel bills..
