  1. Autoline $65 each to mill down and rethread shock shafts to lower top hats
  2. If I was to do a RWD build where I was swapping motors and gearboxes I'd go straight to the 2GR. 3.5L 6cyl <~~ you can't beat that. That and because it's a V6 not straight 6 the weight is kept behind the front wheels more. That and it's lights as hell being full alloy 300hp and 300nm on standard RELIABLE ecu, loom and un-opened motor. 2GR FTW!!
  3. Yup I was going to do one into my carina. Lotus 7 rep guys use a ford 5sp and sell adaptor plates. I was going to put it up to the T50 or possibly a W series Toyota box. Have since sold it as I have a running 4age that bolts straight in so will save on build costs.
  4. Cheers guys. Yeah I thought it can't be that hard. Will call autoline Monday as there close to me. And post price/outcome
  5. Not sure if this should go in general or tech sorry. I need to find a machine shop that can rethread my struts So. Have macpherson strut up front. Have changed and cut spring. Is no longer captive but sits fine and isn't bottoming out. Called a couple places about getting the top shaft rethreaded shorter and all of them say they you bring them in and then they send them away. Can anyone tell me who they would be out sourcing them to so I can take them to them directly? Seems stupid and more costly to drop them to some who's just going to drop them to someone else Cheers in advance
  6. Haha I'm so gonna test fit one for some photos Funny you mention this, even just looking at the car the roof dose seem to stand out a bit. I'm going to try make a small front lip of some sort And have thought a bit on a small rear lip. Like 2" flat allou that sticks up like a nascar spoiler
  7. Cutting back to you aero thoughts. Have you thought about MA61 roof spoiler?
  8. Haha I'll make a nice one down the line, in oldschool ingenuity style to keep the haters at bay
  9. Cheers mate. But I'm just not so sure I want to tell people I'm running aliexpress bolt ons haha
  10. Bloody hell! $80 USD for a stainless manifold! And yeah a gt25's pretty small, only 12-14psi, so with support I'm sure it would be sweet. I'll see what shippings like. But if for not much more if rather buy locally. I'd like to try make my own as a side quest later on
  11. You couldn't remember where you got your unit could you? And yeah, as soon as it did it, i sighed cause I know I would haft to do wiring under the dash haha
  12. Cheers man! Had to space the inside mounts to line it up better, still a bit off by I like my cars a bit rough The only issue now is my indicators flash real fast. Like I'm missing a bulb, but I'm not. I'll need to compare the HL looms but I'm thinking it will be easier to just bridge the relay or if there's a different relay to make faster just pull it out. IDK I haven't had a look yet, its one of those electrical things thats got me procrastinating haha And yeah a 4agte is sweet, I way prefer a supercharger but cert wise and replacement/upgrade wise it just makes sense. I'm already getting a bit of hate from the purists haha
  13. So a bit of a change of plans. I figure if the supercharged motors going in then to keep it all legit I'll haft to cert it. So I might as well put adjustable suspension in on all corners so down the line it makes it easy, rather then certing with just fronts and having to re cert if I wanted to change later on. So I'm on the hunt for some used AE86 rear adjustables On the boost front I really really do like the supercharger, 4agze drives awesome with the torque. But with replacement or upgrading one down the line. Sc12's are still some what cheap but most have loads of KM's and tired rotor coatings. And upgrading to something like this.. http://www.lysholm.us/_1600ax.php It's not really cost worthy for the gain. I looked at one of these to put on the 7AGE in the AW but with a price tag of over 2800 if remember rightly and struggling to get 350hp staying turbo seem'd a better option. So I saying all this the 4agze going into the Rina will now be a 4agte mate sorted me out with a near new garrett GT25 AR80 for a box of beer so I'm pretty happy with that. Came in on his ps13 and was replaced by the previous owner in jap not long before it was exported to NZ and has only a smidge of play side to side Small turbo, but I want it to be there straight away, and running OEM ECU I can only run up to 14psi before the injectors lean out so a big turbos pointless unless I went to a standalone witch I won't for a long time. For the manifold I'll use one of these cheap things to get it running and cert'd. http://drivenperformance.co.nz/products-page/exhaust/toyota-4age-4agte-turbo-manifold-16v-rwd-cast/ And maybe make my own manifold later down the track and use a t25-t28 flange so I can go to a gt28 later on if I wish On anouther note. I didn't realise that the original head lights are seal'd beams, of witch they crapped them selfs pretty quick and I was left with no head lights. Good bloke by the name of clint sent up some with fitting to change to conventional lamps. Wahoo! I have head lights again! Sitting on spittys at the moment
  14. Brakes are gonna be tight! Fronts sorted, just need to find some time Just need rear shocks n springs. Fixed but will get a shock insert with adjustment
  15. Wonder if it would fit being so wide? Being v6 it would sit behind the struts still, unlike the v8 and v10 swaps they do it Mericur If I ever win lotto I'm gonna put a synergy V8 in my rina
  16. Haha nah nah, don't think I have the patience to do graphs like yours Don't want that weight on my sholders
  17. I'm going to haft to beat you to it now aren't I?
  18. Yeah I looked into it and found the auto ones were a tad bigger, no idea why And yeah seems strange to why only some had them and some didn't. Friends Pre facelift AW had factory struts and one had a mount for a sway bar hanger and the other didn't.. And the part number on the one without was the same as a spare we had with a bracket
  19. The voice over is what really gets me creaming my pants But remember when "beems" was a huge thing because you can use both ex and intake to endive spool then flip to help boost ign. Now it's even more accurate. Pretty sure the 3UR has it on both in and ex cams Just no aftermarket ECU has alowance for it yet Maybe the link G6 extreme
  20. Nah it's way different. Can't remember the exact mechanics of it but in a nut shell.. Cam gear has an elec motor mounted on it, can shaft mount to the motor. Then voltage can slow the cam down or speed it up individually right down to the milli second. Meaning each individual cam shaft can be dialled in super accurately to the milsec at each rpm. Pretty trick stuff, but would hate for something to go wrong with it haha And yeah a j160 bolts up less 3 bolts. Just a torque eats them
  21. Yeah exactly. Their just still expensive cause they still come in new cars off the lot now so probably once they bring out the next platform their'll go down and then look at getting a low km front cut out of JAP land. get the last model before they all come with the electronic vvtiE the 3UR's etc are getting, be fun trying to set thoughs up on an after market ECU haha
  22. Exactly! And a know a RWD box that bolts straight up I'll give you guys a hint.. Uses parts from a two different makes Friend has a 2GR in his aw11, 310hp on standard ECU with just headers. It's nuts! Just needs the RPM limit cut And yeah, price is partly why I'm in no hurry
  23. Yeah the guy I bought it off said they didn't want it to turn into a drift hack and were pretty picky on who they sold it to Bloke I bought I off was going to drop a lot of coin into the car but things changed as they do You can tell him it won't be a hack. And that I've already replaced some broken interna bits and am super stoked with it. And it will be mint once I finish my other project late this year or early next year and see a good over hall with no "JDM" or tasteless mods, stickers or hacking
  24. Yeah pretty much. I have plans down the line for a 2GR and hilux LSD rear end but will haft to make do and keep it on the road until the AW is finished and setup and hopefully running in production series. Ultimately road friendly, drift friendly (if I can find a balance between the two haha) and still some what comfortable. For now it's basically cheap way to learn to drift until the other project is done. My thoughts exactly, have a mate with a grunty little small port that's low/tight as hell and he doesn't have many issues with it at all. Reckons T series is sweet until 280hp and too grippy a tire. Said hilux stuff is to heavy and cumbersome if your not putting down huge power Not that I'll take his word as gospel but he's run it for years now and isn't looking to change any time soon But hey I'll find out at some point I guess haha
