  1. Good man! This isn't the one that was for sale on facebook and then at Turners is it? 30E manual?
  2. @Beaubot What have you done? That'd work for me. I've got this if it's any use, pretty sure I've got the wiring for it somewhere too. I don't want it looking too bogan haha, I'd love to put the meshies I've got on it but they're a bit too wide.
  3. I feel like the Hankooks and Globe reps would be more at home on an HQ or something! What are the 18's like? Keen to stay with 15's on this car but options are pretty limited in 5x120. What do you want for the scoop?
  4. Haven't done anything to the Royale in the last month but I've been busy stripping the parts car. Not too much more to come off that and then the shell can go to the crusher. Dad and I measured the width of the V8 LSD on the weekend, it's 40mm wider than the original Royale diff. Stupidly I didn't try the wheels before I removed it from the parts car so tonight I used some wheel nuts to simulate the extra width of the new diff and test fitted a couple of wheels. The nuts are 19mm deep so close enough. There's a set of E34 alloys on trademe currently which are local but before I go bidding on them I want to ensure they'll fit. This is an E34 alloy borrowed from my brother with a 225/60R15 tyre. I think it's sitting slightly higher than normal in the photos but it looks like it's going to be bloody close to the guards. I'll be running a 205 tyre which will hopefully fit, I could probably run a 195 if the 205 is going to foul the guard but then that seems to defeat the purpose of having an LSD? Worse case scenario I can just run the cop steelies and get them widened/offset changed to suit as the 15x7 steelies still seem to have plenty of room. Hopefully these E34 alloys will fit as it'd be nice to have a disc brake LSD rear end without having to roll the guards , bit unfortunate the diff can't be narrowed really!
  5. Well done man! Been super cool seeing your progress on your build!
  6. @ajg193 I'd better remove the Bosch electrics and replace it with some quality Lucas parts!
  7. Hmm interesting, will have a look at the drains! Cheers!
  8. Yeah it's actually a fair bit older than how it looks/drives. I've thought about buying it off him but yeah, too many electronic doohickeys inside that dash to cause issues.
  9. Does anything else commonly go wrong with these things? I've ordered a set of spark plugs and a fuel filter for him. Aside from doing an oil change on it and replacing a couple of fuel lines it hasn't really required anything in the time he's had it. It goes like a cut cat once it's wound up but shit its a big waka!
  10. Sweet that's good to hear! I took it for a drive last night and I don't think there's actually anything wrong with the clutch. It's missing under load so that's a whole other kettle of fish. Good to know for the future though.
  11. Sweet that's what I want to hear. I don't think a bit of a rattle will be an issue, my main concern was whether it would cause the car to become harsh to drive. Haven't actually had a look at how much room there is around the box but most of my experience is with heavy cast iron gearbags so wanted to make sure they weren't known for being a pain to do.
  12. G'day you jokers, looking for some opinions/experience regarding replacing a factory dual mass flywheel with a solid one. The clutch in my brothers E34 535i has become juddery and is slipping during heavy acceleration. I've just been speaking to Exedy and have been quoted two options, a dual mass kit or a solid conversion kit which is about $100 cheaper. Has anyone got experience with converting to a solid flywheel? I've never dealt with them before and am wondering whether it's worth spending the extra coin on the dual mass kit. The car gets some spirited driving occasionally but the majority of it's use is just daily driving around town with the odd bit of open road. Also while we're on the subject, how much of a pain will replacing this clutch be? It's a factory manual car but it's bloody low and I'm really not sure I can be bothered doing the job myself. Thanks in advance, Chaz
  13. Mate don't bother with widened steelies. Rota's are just the same as genuine Jap wheels* *Kidding.jpg
  14. That's good to know, I was a bit worried it might bog a bit down low. Pretty sure the diff is from the same VP as the motor and gearbox but I haven't actually checked yet. I'm removing the running gear this weekend so I'll stick the cop steelies on before I pull the diff and see how they fit. Worse case scenario I can get them modified to make the offset a bit more positive. The wheels are 18" Advantis (I think) but the front two are stuffed from the crash and the back two are quite scratched and also possibly cracked. Bit unfortunate as I quite like the look of them. Yeah I do love how 80's the interior is, I just wish it had cup holders!
  15. So I did a thing. I saw another VL listed on trademe and quite liked the look of it but didn't really think too much more about it as I couldn't really justify spending anymore coin. Watched it for a week or two and then the E36 I'd been dailying packed up again, parts for the Bimmer are bloody expensive and I loathe the thing anyway so that will be for sale soon and this will be taking its place. It's RB30E auto, paint is a bit tired but it does everything I want from a daily with the bonus of being something I actually like driving. The main selling point for me was the interior. Madeira Red is my favourite of the interior options, maybe one day it'll get Calais headlamps, an LS and a two tone respray in Tuxedo Black over Asteroid Silver but for now I'll get a nicer looking set of wheels/chuck my cop steelies on it and tidy up a few odds and ends and just roll it as is. Also included in the sale was a rather stuffed parts car. It belonged to the son of the seller and they were sick of it sitting in the yard so asked if I was interested in it. It's powered by a 3.8 out of a VP (I think) and has a 5 speed box and a V8 LSD diff. I'm going to pinch the diff for the Royale although I'm a wee bit concerned about the effect that changing the diff ratio will have as the RB30ET doesn't produce quite as much torque as the 5.0L Maybe not enough difference to be an issue? Also need to look into whether I can swap the crown wheel and pinion from the original diff into the LSD head to keep the same ratio and keep the speedo working correctly. That's a problem for another day though, current priority is stripping all the decent parts off the crashed Vacationer so I can get it off my long suffering parents driveway.
  16. Went for a ride in this as Hanmeet, seriously considered buying it!
  17. I won't be able to afford to bring my car up to the drag day but I'm hoping to come up as a volunteer so I'll see you there!
  18. Giz! Looks great man, can't go past a two tone VL!
  19. @fletch that would be great thanks, I'll see if I can fix my one and let you know. @scooters that's what worries me, all this fandangled EFI is new ground for me.
  20. Far out no way! BNT are happy to exchange my shoes for pads so I should be sorted!
  21. I'll have a careful go at straightening it this weekend, apparently the 30E regs are the same internally so can no doubt suss something if I can't fix this one. @dr.wylde I did indeed, were you the seller?
  22. From memory fuel pressure is about 40psi which would match what Autodata says. Will have to do some more research on it. My only previous experience with EFI is changing filters and hoses so I don't really know what I'm doing.
  23. I probably could, bit worried that it might fatigue and crack the pipe though?
