  1. Chucked some trademe lowered springs and lowering blocks in. Borrowed the wheels off my RX-3. Tram track much??
  2. Naa, same place although it smells a lot less now Need to put wags up for sale to fund legal bills with next door
  3. Late reply eh, brakes were fucked. Shoes down to the metal, cylinders leaking. Started to smell them as we came into Duds. It's not oldschool if you don't set out in an unknown condition.
  4. Just got back from aformentioned SI trip. Calculating the direct route (sans all the other driving we did) that's 1,900kms. Not bad for a fully laden 1980's wagon. We did need a $700 brake job in Dunedin, but apart from that (and 4L of oil) she ran like a charm. If you're reaing this Alex, sorry we didn't make it your way - will be back down again sometime as we want to do some wine tours, so will hook-up then fo sho!
  5. What have you done to lower the RX-3? Looks mint at that height!
  6. Cheers lads. Not sure I can make these big events as we have a SI trip planned that will eat most of my leave and income. Just had to say that my wife has really taken to this wagon. She's started driving it more than her car. Says it reminds her of her Dad's old 626 of similar vintage, when she was learning to drive. A few of her friends have said the wag is "cute" haha
  7. Nice work bro, I think you were on our Exile forum in the UK for a bit aye?
  8. Nice car, hope to see it in person one day
  9. Might take me a while, enjoying the 1300 gas consumption!
  10. Hi, thanks for bringing it to my attention - I've put my name down.
  11. I'll be keen to attend this with my family. I'll prob sit on SH1 at Param and wait for the Plimmerton convoy.
  12. Brought myself this 1980 323 wagon a few weeks ago. Story goes, I used to see it often parked outside this commercial place on the way into Levin and never had the balls to go and knock. Eventually I did take a man pill and what do ya know, it belonged to the guys son who was looking to sell it. I pissed around a bit and got the "it's going on trademe this weekend" threat. True to his word, he did advertise it, and Sunday night I thought "fuck it", and sent him a txt. Ended up heading to Levin the next night to secure it, as they'd already been a few offers from Northerners to transfer the monies. And get this, the price he told me in person - it went on trademe for 500 bux less, so that's what I paid, score! It's totally bone stock. Wheezy little engine that manages to do 100km/h, not even sure what it is - 1300 I guess, haven't bothered to check! Do know it's a 4 speed, and judging from the sparse dash and no rev gauge... povo spec. He had a dog as you can tell by the shredded seats, but carpet, door card, and everything else is ok. Mechanically fine, but was out of oil when I checked, small leak from head under rear plug so keeping an eye on that. Brakes are gay. Haven't got round to getting my NZ licence back yet, so this is in Ness's name. That's 4 cars she owns. It's got 90k on the clock. Fuel gauge has given up. Plans are to initially lower it on some decent rims. Later down the track go the whole hog and drop in the home built (not by me) 13B baby pp engine I have, series 2 gearbox I have and all my ex-RX-7 bits like carb, pump and whatever else fits. Got a stereo too with USB and iPod connectors which will go in the little shelf area. Got the wireless for talkback. Bit of background on me. My name is Hayden. I had a website called aotearotor.co.nz back in the day. I moved around a bit and spent the last 10 years in London. Started a old school rotary club there called Exile (exile-rotorsport.com) - that's been going since 2006. Moved home just prior to xmas 2013. Cheers Discussion //oldschool.co.nz/index.php?/topic/46006-mullins-1980-mazda-323-wagon-jo-discussion/#entry1423105
  13. No probs, that's weather for ya. Have a good one tonight.
  14. Sorry chaps, can't be done with turning around and driving back to Wellington.
  15. Southward swap meet was really good. Got myself a $5 cordless drill and some sunburn
  16. I'm keen to attend this, as my first oldschool.co.nz meet. I've gone from being heavily involved in a car club/forum to hardly being online this year, so need some car r&r
