  1. Evening chaps, come along to the palmerston north's only Oldschool monthly meet, we will be dining in style at the De Coree Korean BBQ. https://goo.gl/maps/pq4h2opNJsH2 Park in Plaza carpark 6:30 P.M onwards for sharns about borg warner transmissions and your grandfather's axe, then over the road for oriental delicacies. BYO previa! *Stickers available, $5 each*
  2. yeah thats intense! might look into pod filters again now that i have the jets to compensate. i wonder where i will find some pilot jets for these things haha
  3. **INCOMING 2 STOKE SHARNS** so my jets turned up from aliexpress. these are hex heads, standard was a round head. slapped one in and wouldnt fire at all, hmmm. assumed the jets themselves were too long compared to standard, then removed the washer underneath the jet, and boom she fired. so much tang so standard is a 92.5, and the guy who designed the chamber runs a 102.5. massive! mind you, that is with carbon reeds, electronic ignition and a oversized piston, so i thought i wouid keep it tame with a 95 to begin with. just let it idle cos way too wet to road test, and throttle response was much nicer than standard, still spluttery as hell. went up to a 98 this morning and took her for a spin, forgot how loud it is and proceeded to receive all the bad looks from old wimmin walking dogs. when cold, its still spluttery as hell. takes a good minute of riding till it opens up completely, then the powerband is lush. inspected the plug, nice and brown around the spark, however the outside of the plug, inside the thread etc is covered in unburnt fuel. i expect this to be too rich at idle, but adjusting mixture screw leaves it idling really low and about to die. up the pilot jet perhaps? EDIT: needle clip is raised one level, so dropped slightly tl;dr: minor victory, still have not won the war sharn away
  4. Nice!!! Chop that big exhaust in half and slap a nice cone muffler on.
  5. sweet! let us know how you get on with making the fibreglass tail, i wanna give it a go for my bike also
  6. aaaand this thing now has a tail light. i made a guard up from the remains of a front one i had trimmed down a while ago and mounted to the seat base. slapped a nice small tail light on it and we're away. i put some standard spec bars on it, really dig the tracker look. much more comfortable to ride than the clubmans. might get a pair of lower rise bars for it. also finally got round to buying some main jets! will have a fiddle with the tuning once they get here for maximum gains
  7. did replacement kickstart shaft fit alg?
  8. damn 4 strokes. thats way more than 4 bolts to rip the head off! also, is this a cam chain or push rod set up? i had a big argument once with boss he was adamant they had a chain
  9. big job jim! everything look okay in there? go and have a chat to the dude at Boyles with those CG brat racer things, the dude i talked to in parts not long ago said he has shit loads of spares, possibly an engine
  10. did the cases come apart easy? method??
  11. i like this a lot! afaik the 80s onwards 125s were 5spd, early 125s were four speeds like this. XL engines bolt on without much hassle. they are a lot more common and come in good size cc
  12. thanks team. will go and enquire furter re: water jet cutting i had looked into 3d printing one? however i thought the engine heat would warp it
  13. where are they based? and did you send them plans and they cut to suit? that sounds ideal
  14. i have some shit i want to do to my motorsickle, and i need a spacer made for the carburettor cover (rotary valve stz) most local machining places have told me they dont really have the time for small, one off jobs. one firm is keen to give it a go but they have a minimum $150 charge for any job. is there anyone with hook ups near palmy north or wellington even that can help me out? or a place that is slightly more affordable. i need a ~12ish mm spacer of alloy to space the cover out further. this is the gasket for the cover (far right) basically need the spacer in the same shape as the gasket. if anyone knows of places who do small jobs, or if you can suggest an alternative way of making something like this let me know!
  15. that shifter is awesome may i suggest removing the green checker and replacing with more aussie export matte black? pipe is cool! do more skids!
  16. so i bought this from mega GC Tim off of here, when it popped up cheap i had to snap it up -jap import -1800 8v (G60?) -auto -boat spec body is fairly straight, little bit of rust creeping underneath the windscreen, and some poor attempts at rust repairs on the rear hatch. the engine performs okay considering its size and spec, however it leaks oil out the engine/crankcase breather? i assume built up pressure in the crank, or a line somewhere is blocked. if anyone knows more info on these and how to remedy would love to hear. plans are to give it a well needed cut and polish, give the springs a bosch haircut, fellow golf foamers let me know your thoughts on suitable adjustable suspension for these. from what ive seen Raceland ones seem to be pretty good. acquire wide 13s from japans and perhaps a manwell box later on. inspiration
  17. woah have done fuck all with this thing. so i took it to polished rockers, it was a good time. old geezers couldnt believe how loud it was haha grouse thanks to chunk he gave me a seat that he had made for his ax100 above, but opted for a more cafe racer style so i happily took it off his hands. i also took the battery out and its holder, also cleaned up the carb and intake. made the guts of the bike look a little better i have a piece of cut up guard that i will use for this, and slap a nice wee tail light on it. and perhaps should mount some indicators. to make it look semi legal haha think i will scrap the oil tank and live the premix life, also find another pod filter or equivalent and make it look super clean. so yeah, pining for the DGR this year, and QCR rides??? ke3n
  18. nice car! i have always enjoyed these, until the era of ugly boxy rear guards. i expect cheviot turbos and mudflaps on the ground mate.
  19. inspection-less revin? discuss!
  20. your last vid doesn't sound too bad. how many clips does the needle have? I found on my bike (mikuni 20mm carb) when I raised the needle one below middle, it took a while for throttle to engage, there was nothing at 1/4 and very little 1/2 a throttle. however stock jet so it might be different to your set up. I guess like most 2nangers just plug chop until satisfied. do these jets fit all mikunis? I have a vm24 I need to upjet for my gp125, wanna flick one or two off?
  21. how do you go about running LED's and all that jazz off a 6v system? would like to retrofit some better 12v stuff to my little bikes
  22. i run one of those chambers for my ax100, they have a pretty good power increase. and a really easy design to work with the bike. The length of your header will change the powerband, ol' mate has probably discussed that, so if you went for a moto-x style header and chamber above the engine results may vary. one of those AX pipes on your bike will be fine, they have similar specs. bump it up a jet size and perhaps a colder plug and you'll be away
