I called last week with no response haha Neal mayte that would be grouse! Most important are the front door trims for each side. Pm me to discuss further if you can help -
Can anyone lead me in the right direction to a wreck or getting some trim pieces for a 4 door? VW Heritage has everything but shipping is killer. looking for opinions on best suspension options, this thing needs stiffer shocks and suspension asap haha.

If you enjoyed this: and discussing the finer points of this while indulging in a couple of these THEN COME ALONG TO THE OLD SCHOOL CENTRAL OTAGO FANDANGO V2 this meet will be held at the Cromwell Classic Car Show down Alpha St on the 21st of Jan in 2017. it is one of the biggest in the south island, so would be cool to get more people tagging along to this! details here http://www.cromwell.org.nz/news--feature-stories/its-classic-car-hot-rod-time might even talk to the board of directors in capital city about waving the OS banner at the show. will discuss at next general meeting. Top bloke Kiwi808 has pulled a few strings with the local vinage car club to open up their clubrooms and parts shed exclusively to us Oldschoolers before the barrys can get their sweaty, mopar memorabilia-clutching hands on the goodies inside. details will be distributed closer to the time. if anyone wishes to make a trip of it they are more than welcome to crash at mine, and i believe Johnny has space on his lawn also. so go on, get cheryl to iron your favourite 2004 Team Kiwi Racing polo, and get stuck in!

Nick's 89 VW Golf Mk2
TimShadboltfan27 replied to TimShadboltfan27's topic in Projects and Build Ups
well this was quite the non-event... i moved islands, no way was taking this with me ever going to be feasible. ended up selling to some gavin who had plans of a hektik track car... it popped up on the tard $1 reserve one week later. however i stumbled into Repco Queenstown for my usual order of blue checker plate floormats and bargain bin spanner sets, when i spotted this thing outside. the owner of the car was behind the counter, a British lad, and saw me cheesin, engaged in a sharn, and said if you want it make an offer as my visa is up in december. so as the stars aligned, i purchased another one! this one is suuper lush compared to the last - manwell 8 valver with 66 kw of pure self esteem, two extra headlights, knock off bbs' and still too many doors. last owner was a foamer for golfs back in the uk, has recently put in a new clutch, timing belt, and while he was there inspected and replaced head gasket. so it is a minta! look forward to putting it through its paces. has a few bits and pieces i would like to tidy up, namely the door trims and replace the grill with a not cable tied/gti number. and some bosch incisions to the ride height. enjoy -
dont buy an aliexpress carb to replace - they are completely different to the original. sprak learnt the hard way and dropped $32. i think there are still some rebuild kits floating about, or perhaps flog a carb off a wrecked one

have shot home for a couple of days and took this thing out for a burn. it takes a decent minute of riding to warm up, but man it makes all the right noises once the temp gets up. much pine. however it would intermittently cut out on me for some reason - i would turn down a street, changing down gears the engine wouldnt decelerate, and would completely cut out when i was back on the throttle exiting the turn. pull over, slap into neutral and she would fire straight up again. totally thought i had seized it at first! i gave it prolly 1l of petrol. not much but enough to get a good sloshing noise in the tank, plenty of 2t, any ideas why it might be cutting out? it will idle fine. most of the time it would run through the gears fine at 3/4/full throttle, until you decel and it would keep up in the revs and then cut out. i have also discovered a gnarly exhaust leak, i think the thread inside one of the snapped off exhaust bolts must be starting to fail, could the leak cause it to cut out? tl;dr it sometimes dies can the internet fix it
