Plug is brown to dark brown at a chop currently so pretty sure its not lean I've got a new set of points i should put in too, maybe the old ones cant keep the spark up, theyre pretty worn. Unless im fanging it full the whole time its sweet..only thing is it needs fanging to cruise in traffic lol

jets are good, threads are perfect, nice brass and even have the mikuni logo on them lol. I was a bit suss on if they are actually bigger - the factory 80, new 80,82,85 looks reeeealy similarly sized to me, but I got 12 - up to about 108 so heaps of room to increase.

Rejetted the carb today after my aliexpress jets arrived. Previously, after I had the cylinder bored it would run quite lean and 'fourstroke' at full throttle (surge/die - if that's not fourstroking - lol) id read that meant it was lean so upped the jet size. Stock jet is an 80 (I had the needle set rich as possible too) so I went up to an 82 to richen it (needle back to centre clip) after the rebore - still wasn't enough according to a plug chop, so put in an 85. the 85 runs nice at mid clip on the needle, but I dropped it another one just to see...then it started the surge/die thing again at full throttle...I haven't put it back to centre clip but I will tonight as it seems to run best there. does 'fourstroking' happen when its too rich, as well as when its too lean at WOT? ps. sorry all my updates have no pictures haha but who wants to see a packet of Chinese jets

possibly a hijack.? ive got no idea on velobikes 'rules' but has anyone tried a petrol generator running an electric motor? my mates dad used to have one of these flymos, tied a rope to the handle and dangled it down his super steep back section to mow where he couldnt push a wheeled one. they only sucked dragging them round when not running lol.

I just ali expressed my new jets, it was 9us including postage for 10 or 12 different mikuni sizes for my fr50. Super quick postage too which i was surprised by. What was the exhaust worth?

Haha i did that with my 50 too, took it to bits and pluged one of the stator wires wrong when i reassembled it...took soo long to figure it out

Ive been keen on those MLM sidebleed pipes for ages, i'd run a silencer anyway. Pipe sounds sweet I'll let you know if i go ahead with the mod, means ill have to cut my header. do you know anyone running one of the same design? Mine runs 55kmh at the moment but hasnt really been run in on the new piston/boring. Id be hoping for a little bit more topend too with a new pipe, but mid and low suits my commute which is only like 5km stop start all the way

Sussed this btw. Effing points...but sorted and starts first kick like a boss on hardly any choke. Finally. Next on the list is the seat. The fa50 seat actually looks pretty cool on it after a random set-if-it-fits but still probably going with the seatbelt brat-style seat...when i get round to it Then tail light... Crustywhip you have dimensions on a chamber for these?

Like. that boxy rear seat extension would look nice and café-y if you shorten the seat cushion itself?? and move it forward low seat pad then kick it up to follow the extension angle at the rear.? liking the build

Points are set sweet although theyre original so i could maybe replace them. Got it going again, seems it floods pretty easily and have to take out the plug for few kicks and dry it out gefore it'll turn over again. I might just bite the bullet and take it in for a tune...

This thing is doing my head in with not starting....so anyone with a fr50 let me know what settings your running (running well) carb settings are at!! Can you post air/fuel mix screw and idle speed screw settings (amount of turns out from hard wound in) then at least i can go from there. So far ive checked and or replaced - coil, condenser, points, plug, plug cap, plug gap, timing, fuel tap, jets, needle, air filter, fuel tubing, tank filter....the list goes on. Carb is it i know it haha Chur.

what was that smaller tail light off? I've been debating what to use on mine. really want one of the stormtrooper lens 33 ford ones but they're quite pricey.

ive got prettymuch the whole handlebar setup leftover from my build if you need -mines the model before with round headlight. crustywhips the man to see re; exhaust chambers etc. dying could be carb not refilling? check fuel/vac lines and fuel tap bowl ps. sweet score

Speedo/ cable screams going anything over about 30kmh - does this just get oiled? or is it shagged?

Starts! Actually cant believe it lol. So far all ive done is reconnect the cut wires, clean out the carb which was actually pretty clean, and put what little fuel i had in the mower can it in - like 50mls...one kick on prime then started next kick! Even the headlight still goes lol. Next is tidy up wiring mess, find a 6v horn, either fix indies or remove them and fix the rear puncture. With the air cleaner, whats the deal using valve cover breathers instead of the factory one? Sorry no-pics updates, looks the same though..

Spark! That means the ignitions sorted i guess. Cleaned carb. Need to go get some gas

Ok sweet that a good start point. The loom is cut at the headlight so ill have to reconnect everthing first, all seems to be there. The ignition mount is busted so ill suss out the o'clocks somehow lol i think theres a locating tab on it. Currently the key slot is pointing at the lights symbol if that makes sense (possibly the 2 o'clock posi?) Theres no filter foam apart from dish sponges haha but ive got the airbox and hose to the carb too. Pulled carb off just before but havent cleaned yet, looks ok at a glance but will give it a good going over Liking it so far. Stoked

First instantly after starting update: Stack of old keys on the seat dont fit the ignition as hoped...but, can someone with an fa50 tell me if the key slot is lined up with the lights symbol and the ignition word, is it turned on or off?? I'm hoping its turned on and then the keys somehow gone missing, Meaning it'll fire up!(?)
