That's pretty much identical to what I had when I was a 7 year old :O

What a gem. If you're ever letting it go give me a shout (obv not soon because I spent all my money on bikes)

Yeah, sure, I will keep you in mind if I need more room.

Is the Yamaha 50 mini trail a GT50 or an FT1? My first bike was a GT50... would kinda like one again for nothing more than nostalgia!

It is the FT1 model. I have an engine rebuild kit for it, was gonna do the engine and leave the bike as it is, patina if you like ? They are a neat little bike. It has a new seat cover on now too.

Suddenly I've got 5......1 of them even goes!

You are well on the way, keep it up. I am trying to downsize to make more room but will still have a Honda 750 SOHC, Yamaha XS650, Yamaha 50 mini trail, 4 Tru test minibikes and 2 Honda QA50,s. Can’t go cold turkey and get rid of them all.

I am running Manawatu to Akl on 4th January so could help with freight for a donation to the fuel cause!

Also I bought another bike. Is this how it starts?

Um, yes, I do believe those three words "bought another bike" puts you firmly in that camp.

Found some down at my local everything pipe and fitting related. They didn't even know they had it, but I recognized the bag up on the wall from a distance as the one Tori posted.

I have used steel bundy previously, but I'm being a princess and want the shinier stuff.

I had also heard the kunifer was easier to bend, but a quick test on the shit I have bought says otherwise.

Now I need one of those wheely straightener things. I'll either buy a few sliding door rollers, or old m8 @Bistro reckons a bit of wood with a hole drilled in it. He can demonstrate on Wednesday for me.

We got some goldy hued stuff ages ago at work, feels like it would split when you flare it to me, sure doesn't want to straighten easily. I don't even try to give the shit away let alone sell it.

Coby is a brand and was owned by a guy I raced cars with. He may still own the business but I have lost touch with him.

The Coby brand includes products such as reducers, doughnuts,  mufflers and resonators.

A resonator is a free flow style design slightly similar to a motorcyle baffle system. A resonator will reduce nasty exhaust noise but leave a fair bit of burble in your exhaust tone.

They can sound great, but can also sound shit if the exhaust diameter is too large for engine displacement

Bill sold Coby a while back now. He is a good bugger and can wrestle a race car round a track with the best of them. I think he still has the Nova but doesn't drive it anymore due to health reasons. I miss his monthly visits at work.

The S300 stud is the only one that looks like it might work. I'd need to measure for the shank length, might be too long. It's also 12X1.5 so I'd have to change the rear to match. I'd prefer to buy just one to test if the taper is correct. It seems no one in NZ who sells NICE has the S300. I'd need to get it from Aus I guess, but it says I must contact them for a shipping price.

The new outfit that sell them are pretty crap with stock levels, just about every time we order some they have to come from Aussie.

So the Triumph has 12X1.25 wheel studs from the nissan IRS. And 7/16th UNF on the factory front suspension.

To avoid cross threading when the nuts inevitably get mixed up, I want to change the front studs to metric.

But the triumph has a tapered countersink for the head of the stud. All the aftermarket studs I've come across so far have no countersink with a flat head.

What are my options? Can I turn a taper on a flat head stud?(I'm guessing not). Or can I just use a flat head stud as long as the knurled section is long enough to fully engage?

Also, if I need to drill out the holes in the hub for a larger knurl, they are just straight holes right, the knurls on the stud "cut" the spline?

It's going to be a stirling effort if you manage to get a 7/16 nut on a 12mm stud. I think you will be okay. have a look on Nice products site, they might have something that will work if you want to match the stud thread.

  9. I loved my Trutest when I was a kid, used to ride it every chance I got. Bought 3 in recentish years for me and the kids and got given my original one a while back by a friend that had got it and lost interest in rebuilding it. I sold my first one and bought a brand new QA50, was a neat little minibike but my mates Kawasaki MT1 would kick its arse speed wise.

  10. Yep, cut it out and do another patch. I use a chunk of 10 mm alloy behind the join, works well. And just keep the magnet on to tack it each side then take it off, magnetic pull can do funny things with the weld puddle. Skip around the patch with good tacks and let it cool well before zapping it again.

Package turned up from JP cycles yesterday, no border tax! New voltage regulator fixed horrible problem of intermittent loss of power. Fucking scary when you lose power while passing a line of cars and have to cut back in.

New rear shocks in and they ride nice. Might lower it an inch and see if it bottoms when flying. New brake pads, levers, mirrors and grips too.

New front master cylinder and powdercoated bars and fork legs and it'll be pretty tidy.

New front wheel, some cams, a tune and i think I'll be happy

Don't they rat the gst etc at purchase now ? Nothing to pay when it turns up in NZ.

Not the best turnout of vendors this year. Think the threat of the weather put alot off but it was actually pleasant for once, not raining or freezing cold

Ahh, she was a bit wet and miserable at 6.30 this morning til 7.30 or so. I thought I saw you wander past the van but you weren't holding a duck so wasn't a hundy on i.d. Saw @UTERUS and @Ned an aisle over but didn't see them again but caught up with @Mop Head , @Beaver and @GuyWithAviators. Wasn't a bad swapmeet considering traders were down. Got a box full of 4bbl Holleys with 2 450cfm tunnel ram carbs  for $100.00 so worth the trip.

Lol at them trying to get it into neutral for over 2 mins before realising its chained to the ground

Years ago, I done a Wellington to Cape Reinga trip on my Honda 750 chopper. Coming home I stopped at the camp ground in Taupo for the night. Got up the next morning and the local radio station were there putting on a breakfast for the campers and going round interviewing people. I had breakfast and got my tent and sleeping bag packed on my bike and was ready to go when one of the radio guys came over and was asking me about the bike, where I was from and where I had been, blah blah blah, all on live radio. went to ride off and came to a sudden stop in front of him, yeah, forgot to take the chain and padlock off the front wheel. Thank fuck it wasn't a TV interview.

Spotted this (twice) outside the garage on the south side of Taumaranui (not my pic but it's this exact car).

Had to get the other half to carjam it while we were driving past. Turns out it an NZ designed and built Escartus from the early 80s. Rover V8, hq Holden rear screen as the windscreen, XD falcon taillights maybe. Only 8 were ever built and considered the first supercar from NZ according to Wikipedia.
