  1. So I have decided to sell this thing as I will not get it done TM Listing as follows http://www.trademe.co.nz/Browse/Listing.aspx?id=765294586 1984 Sprint QV 1500 (105hp), Alfasud mechanicals version, (Disk brakes all round) complete car with many spares - mostly stripped shell, a project I will not be able to complete. Good Points; Motor was fine when taken off the road - the car drove and handled well. Suspension bushes replaced all round New front brake rotors Reg is on hold. Bad things: Rust - inside front guards - floor Needs windscreen Many spare parts, spare engine, spare suspension, good doors. It is a rolling shell with the original telephone dial wheels - has been in dry storage for the last 3+ years all parts are there.

  3. Reminds me of the one I built a few years ago.. i Thames van + 307 Chev
  4. Cool, I seem to remember our one happily cruising at 50-55MPH, (Lived 10 Miles out of town so it got a good run every day)
  5. Have you ever checked the cam timing on this? I drove one of these as my first car and when we pulled the motor down for a rebuild once, and checked thing out we noticed the cam timing was out by a tooth. This was due to it being assembled like most engines with the dots on the gears lining up. However those dots were actually supposed to line up with marks on the original timing chain. It turns out that most after market chains had no markings so cam timing was wrong. However correct procedure was detailed in the manual - checking valve opening WRT to TDC or some such thing? After correcting it had a lot more power (second gear up a certain hill where previously could only manage first!) Love what you are doing with it. cheers
  6. Check this out http://www.postiebikes.com/specs.htm Might have the answer
  7. Yes I agree with you there, I was surprised to see someone making stuff this this still.
  8. Have you seen this in trade me http://www.trademe.co.nz/motors/car-parts-accessories/vintage-parts/engines/auction-687967744.htm Its a bit spendy though!
  9. Sooo... Completed the internal strip out - not good news. Minor rust in the floor and front of the back guard However this is the top of the both the B pillars Looking at options now, maybe another roof if I can find a good one. Not sure yet
  10. Thanks for the comments guys, stripping it down further today and hit a major problem This is looking up at the top of the B pillar where it joins the roof and the other side Now thinking about options, fix it? complete roof off another one? ???
  11. I could not believe how long it was in storage, So I decided that to do it properly it was going to have to be a complete strip down to a bare shell. Dropped the engine and box - note the location of the brake discs! started checking out the rust - this is all that remains of the top inner front guard and rear lower guard, caused by stupid placement of a foam support for rear window washer bottle Silly Italians! If it ever stops raining I will complete the strip out and update.
  12. Comments here please - build thread here //oldschool.co.nz/index.php?/topic/41708-mo999s-1984-alfa-sprint/
  13. I have owned this since 2005, used it as my daily for a couple of years. Its got the 105HP 1500cc Boxer motor, Twin DownDraft 36 Dell'Orto's, this is a rare one being based on the Alfasud mechanicals - Most of this shape use Alfa 33 bits. So disc brakes all round (inboard at the front! - proper racing spec ) Very nice induction noise and typically Italian exhaust note - lots of crackles and pops on the overrun due to factory cams having a fair amount of overlap. Its a great car to drive - original spec metric rims have been replaced by these 15x7's It looked like this then I did a few small jobs on it to keep it on the road. The wipers were all over the place - this was why - Got some bushes from my auto sparky mate, Drilled them out Put them in Fixed - mint! Also did the front suspension bushes From this to this Had a great couple of years in it till the typical Alfa rust started to make even my friendly WOF man look sideways at it - so parked to up in 2007. Just pulled it out of the shed the day before Christmas - more to follow. Discussion here //oldschool.co.nz/index.php?/topic/41709-mo999s-1984-alfa-sprint/

  17. OK so here are some videos of part of the radiator flushing, (tank removal and flow testing) got carried away after flow testing and reassembled after cleaning without any more video... https://plus.google.com/photos/117887603738322517455/albums/5936290902734520673?authkey=CInbvoCy-9DgDg
  18. Check out nz post's youshop service http://www.nzpost.co.nz/tools/youshop , very good shipping rates to NZ and localy based. I just got something sent over took about 4 days via them and good price as well. Tracked all the way etc.
  19. Compressions are all good, (new rings 150km ago) It actually does not leak oil yet! since the rebuild, given the amount of smoke on the over run and the startup smoke after sitting I suspect worn valve guides Smoke clears after about a K. I have put new stem seals on but they may not be enough. As I only gave it a light hone and not a rebore, I am hopeful it may just take a bit of running in. Probably put another 300K's on it on the way to the OS meet on Sunday. At least we have fixed the head gasket problem caused by the head missing a plug and it no longer uses water / runs hot.
  20. Its an '84 Sprint QV so 1500cc 4cyl - 105 HP
  21. I don't think so, I already have a project in the shed that's been waiting too long!
