  1. Havent been on here for a while but in the mean time have picked up a 52 Chev pick up that the plan is to have going for Beach Hop 2020. Running the OG 216ci straight 6 and 4 speed on the floor. Solid original truck with only a couple of bits of minor rust, A heap of newish chrome was on it, interior has been redone at some point and truck was more or less running and driveable. Stage 1 plan for it is: - Rust & Bang a few dents out - New timber deck -Artileries & Big whitewalls with new hub caps & beauty rings -Fulton Visor -6V to 12V Conversion -Heap of minor badges, mirrors etc -Slam -Vin -Roll 2020 Beach Hop Pics of when i first got it.
  2. Couple of updated posts from the last 3.5 years of cruising.

  5. Well has been a busy few weeks for the MRWEST 64, Have got it back from the Dyno after a few hickups but shes all tuned and running better than ever, The misses, pops and cackles and hesitation has all gone now we have the Link G3+ with G4 Extreme firmware wired in and tuned! Runs a heap better. Have also added balance pipe and it sounds a shiiiittt load better, less 2 hondas drag racing and more v8! Stoked on that one as wasnt overly stoked on its sound before. Has a nice idle now everythings been tuned up and adjusted and sounds decent enough with the hammer down, List of shit to do before xmas is long enough ill be busy but nothing major, Bring on some summer cruising!! Pic for fred Yarning down here http://oldschool.co....estpala/page-10
  6. Got made to put one in the 64 for vin -.- pulled it out after but can throw that fucker away!
  7. Interesting setup man! Will be a bit of fun, What was it in before the subaru?
  8. Yeah have spoken to them since sounds like they have some that fit but wont fit GT40 angled plug heads. Since been told that they are different to the regular windsor angles so should be ok Have ordered a set so will soon find out i guess
  9. Helping Mrs old man sort out his Factory 351W 1969 Fairlane 500 (ZC). Wanting to do an exhaust with headers ideally. Apparently the motor has had different heads on once upon a time and it has angled forward/back (depending on the side) spark plugs. Apparently this can be an issue? There are a few options iv found but not confident they will work. Performance Parts in Auckland have the following -Hurricane Headers HH-111TFM which are for XR-XF Falcon, i spoke direct to Hurricane in Auzy and he thinks they would clear steering etc BUT wont if it has angled plugs -Hedman Headers - HED-88300 - For Ford 64-74 351W. These are LHD headers though so not sure if steering will be an issue or not, and if it is how much? Has anyone fitted these? Silvesters in CHCH have Flowtech Headers to fit: 69–73 Mustang/Cougar: 351W, 71–73 Mustang/Cougar, 66–73 Fairlane, 68–73 Torino/Cyclone/Montego, 66–73 Ranchero, 66–67 Falcon, 66–69 Comet, 71–73 Comet: 260–302W, Tube Size 1.5", Collector Size 3", Black High Temp Paint They reckon these may fit but they are LHD headers, has anyone fitted these in a similar application and know how much steering is or isnt an issue? Or alternately any other options suitable and available locally, or anyone had experiance making some fit. Cheers in advance
  10. Cheers man, Plenty of room for beers haha
  11. Bit of a big update on the ol gurl Done some motor and upholstery! //oldschool.co.nz/index.php?/topic/34309-mrwests-1964-chevrolet-ss-impala-vert/page-4
  12. So has been a busy month for the Impala. Had been meaning to take the ITB's off and balance them on the bench as well as service the injectors. Whipped them off and did that, found the idle screws and been locktighted shut so might explain a bit of a funny idle, Also got injectors serviced which turned out to have 3 a bit chocked up which may explain a couple of things also! While i had the intake off we thought we would do the valve stem seals as i had a set and some new head gaskets lying around, Whipped the heads off got them faced, got some LS7 lifters and new head bolts and put back together. Went to start and it was smoking out one bank, turns out one of the injectors got stuck wide open and was pissing fuel out the exhaust, Got another set of injectors which turned out to be off a later LS1 and 240cc instead off 300cc -.- cant bloody win. Anyways have chucked them back in and car is running and best it ever has. Mates wiring in a Link ECU this weekend and its off for a dyno tune at DTech next Monday so that should cross off all the motor work and have her 100% for summer!! Couple of pics below: Weekend just gone went hard with Mr Midnight Upholstery and finally got around to doing my boot upholstery how i always intended. Real happy with the result, just got some polished hard lines for the airbags to go in and its complete! Sharn down here //oldschool.co.nz/index.php?/topic/34313-the-westpala/page-10
  13. Have seen Eastern Automotive 64 Impala rag and 99% from memory he relocated to the front as his exhaust went over the chassis and down the back on his car. Thats all legal Nice wagon though!
  14. Depending on how long before you need it its possible ill be back down that way in the next few weeks but arent certain at this stage thats all
  15. Yep ill be going, Its the first time its been on , its being organised by a couple of the guys from the Carnales Lowrider club. Should be a good day
  16. Wonder if thats whats wrong with my fuel gauge, new sender and wiring but sits at half Might have to whip out and send to robinsons.
  17. My thoughts too. An another point dont listen to anyone else you get confused as fark hahaha. go with what you want to run at the end of the day !
  18. Ahhhhh this is painful, went through this for months with the impala. Go with your first instint/vision for the car in my opinion. I had always pictured the 64 as gunmetal with black roof and interior and very nearly ended up painting it a number of other colours, but kept coming back to my original pic of the car. Id go for something timeless, maybe period (depending on what path of build style your going for) and something that will look good obviously. Hate to paint it an "in" colour now that will look shit or dated in a few years.
  19. Legend, Yep measuring centre to centre, Roadrunner tell me some starters come with 4 bolt holes to suit different offset, the 2 outside holes are 100mm centre to centre (which the mounting block on the motor is currently somehow) And your meant to use one inside and one outside hole depending on the offset you want. So basically confirms the fact someones farked up the adaptor plate on the engine (although im not sure how this possible cause they are/where a kit?) Looks like ill just have to get road runner to get me a custom front mounting plate to suit.
  20. Yeah im lead to believe these kits are made for a holden starter BUT the mounting bracket on the block definately has 100mm bolt spacing where as the chev/holden are both in the 80s in terms of spacing. So im not sure wtf is going on tbh, neither do roadrunner starters who have been real helpful... Need to check if the subframe spacers are in, the kits been in the car and running for years its just when my mate changed the headers and they didnt have a huge caved in section to clear the headers hes run into problems. The starter itself physically fits ( the new roadrunner one) but it doesnt bolt up, The old original start didnt physically fit without serious panelbeating of the headers, And the cheap chinese replacement fit but didnt cut the mustard with the high compression 8 nor was it set up properly in terms of meshing hence didnt last long. Looks like we will just have to get a custom made mounting face plate for the starter.
  21. Anyone had experience with Chev LH Starter conversions? Im doing some work on a mates VL Commodore at the moment which has had a 350 Chev conversion. The starter has been relocated to the LH (Passenger side) of the motor and using a aftermarket starter mount which mounts in the place of the oil filter and the oil filter has to be remote mounted. The issue iv got is the original starter that was on this motor got replaced when new headers where put in (the old owner beat the headers to the inch of there life to clear the starter). A cheap chinese starter got put in by a Auto sparky that didn't mesh properly, sat too far from the flexplate and couldn't handle starting the high compression v8. It died after maybe 20-30 starts in my shed (car hasn't even been driven really since the new headers and this starter where put on) The car has a 153 tooth flexplate which is a small chev/holden flex plate as far as i believe. I went to Roadrunner Starters/Prostart in Tauranga who gave me a grunty starter to fit in the spot BUT. The adaptor plate has a 100mm centre to centre bolt spacing for the starter. Apparently the chev and holden starter motor bolt spacings are 80 something and 80 something else respectively but within a few mm of each other. Neither line up with the 100mm centre to centre bolt spacing of the adaptor plate we have. Apparently there arent any chev starters with that spacing, Has anyone had experiance with a LH Starter conversion on a 350 and can point me in the right direction, The next option is to get a custom made mounting plate for the roadrunner starter which is doable but a bit of a pita. Cheers
  22. Yep they come in a range of sizes and spline counts. I got mine from Kruzen Kustoms in Palmy, they were the cheapest by a fair bit when i shopped round. Cant remember what brand mine is but see link below http://www.ididitinc.com/accessories-3/Borgeson_Acc-24
  23. Not sure if itll work in your situation but the Impala had a rubber/material rag joint between the column and the box, replaced it with a billet universal, made the steering heaps better, looked tidier and took up less space (old one was going to foul on alternator)
  24. Quick question, When the 64 was vinned iv just noticed they have registered it as a 5.3L however it had the LS1 in it when it went for both vin and cert. Cert plate says 5.7, should the vin/car rego be reading 5.7 as well"?
