  1. Liking your choice of wheels they fill out the arches pretty damn good will make going low interesting. The old car big wheels and low you only seem to be able to have 2 of those 3 things easy.
  2. Yeah I've got a tr unit on mine works sweet as. No clearance issues tr stuff is usually more compact in most cases for any new parts.
  3. Lucas fuel pump are fine just rebuild it and run a decent gauge wire to it from battery with a relay. Saw a sweet heat sink setup for them using alloy Fins and a cpu fan. Got the triumph tr6 service manual at hand if you need more detail with the pi stuff.
  4. Spin on adapter for sale here http://www.trademe.co.nz/motors/car-parts-accessories/triumph/auction-766455136.htm I have this setup http://www.trademe.co.nz/motors/car-parts-accessories/triumph/auction-767023641.htm <buy this one its betterer. do it makes a huge difference.
  5. Haha they also match my kids car seats. Finally got to take my kids out on wet concrete pad out back of work without risk of me falling out my seat or hurting my back. First skids since I got it went bloody well too ☺
  6. Case of having to unfortunately my back is a mess from a car accident years ago and the triumph seats although comfortable for short trips offered no support round corners which wears me down real fast. These are great I can actually get back to using it for club runs and the odd elusive track day. Kind of limited in the style of seat I was able to get due to me actually needing to fit them snug. There was a nice old style seat I wanted but it just didn't hold me in place when I went to segedins to buy/try on seats.
  7. Thinking of going to a set of these in 8's on the front and 9's if they'll fit on the rear with some Damn wide tyres for the ass end. A substantial brake upgrade is on the cards so going smaller than 17" wheels isn't gonna be an option soon besides it rides and grips so good on the big wheels........ And its my car i'll deface it any way i choose.
  8. some sweet pics one tree hill My new storage facility Detailed to fuck....... ok clean Race seats So just going thru my last warrant check sheet its going to need steering rack boots looking under the old girl i think i'm going to chuck in some new lower control arms as the the boots on the ball joints are a bit sad looking. will also adjust hand break as my rebuilt rear brakes are bedded in now (only taken a year) all the wheel bearings would benifit from some grease too. Oh and source those parts for the hypo turbo'd 2 litre and J160 box swap
  9. Long time no updates. Heads been off rebuilt with a mild port job. And new race seats fitted ready to give the old girl a track day before I build up a new motor. Been performing faultlessly apart from a hickup with some asshole putting some shit I suspect was a vodka cruiser in the petrol tank. Oh and the ignition choosing to play at same time. Been driving the shit out of it but warrant time looming I'm a little nervous.
  10. Reason I ask is I dropped a dirty old holden 308 in a triumph stag years back and got knocked back on cert for a load of things. One being brakes another was being 4 stud hubs it was suggested I needed to go to 5 stud. As this is another holden transplant in a trumpy wondered if this will be same case. Different certifier may interpret rules differently I guess.
  11. Been watching this on trademe http://www.trademe.co.nz/motors/used-cars/triumph/auction-758193620.htm Assuming the engine mounts etc are all up to scratch would a triumph 2000 tc be able to be certed with this engine? or would a stronger diff and bigger brakes be needed. Thinking of buying as a donor for my car as the running gear looks good car is shit though. Previous cert is null and void not even worth mentioning in ad i take it.
  12. Break out the grinder and get a hemi 265 in there. if your gonna be that guy you may as well go large.
  13. Cracked mags are usually caused by shit design or a decent knock thats putting stress in places it shouldnt be. Welding it would only be temporary its just going to crack again that'll be why no one is interested in touching it as you'll be back in a month or 3 spewing the repair failed (you might not if you sell the car). what sort of wheels are they? you may be able to get a new replacement fairly reasonably.
  14. I'd suggest a holden v6 backed by the 4 stage auto make it a lazy cruiser and not bad on gas but still enough balls to not loose speed up hills the 4 stage would help it keep the revs down too. i used to have 84 bedford ambulance with a hot 173 running a vk commy 12 port head in it used to haul ass but top out at about 145k's on dash (was probably out by miles) at 6000rpm due to the weird ambo spec 9" diff gearing.
  15. My Daughter took heaps of photo's i'll go thru them later she's 7 so they are all from a elbow height perspective and quite arty. she usually takes quite sweet pics all my build pics are taken by her.
  16. The planets must be aligned because my car is legal running and i'm not on a work mission will hopefully attend.
  17. PM me i'm keen on manifold it'll be used to sling turbo on. Fortunate enough to have the late 70's carbs in the biggest throat size fitted to the long manifold.
  18. so got car back together today inlet ports were actually pretty good from factory with some nice machining around the entrances to the head the gasket only needed light trimming to get it all lining up nice, the exhaust however was utter shit all over the show and in places 2 or so mm of metal needed to be removed to get the ports in spec i ran a straight edge across using studs as reference and marked it all up then got to work with the die grinder till all ports were identical then opened up the exhaust manifold to match. by 2pm it was back on the car and running and after a quick lap around the block it is definately way more punchy low down now it actually has a vastly different exhaust note too. All in all pretty happy.
  19. Got head stripped now have decided to follow 90% of the Vizzard Bible for triumphs and do a basic tidy up on the inlet ports just a tidy up, and open the the exhaust up a moderate amount and port match the lot. i'm not building a full race engine i just want it to be a bit free revving when i do give it a bit of stick. am also going to port the cast exhaust manifold i got good gains in past from doing this removing around 500g of metal from various places. I still want to do a ghetto turbo setup on it at some stage.......
  20. Iv'e got the head off at present and after a bit of research i've found some info from the late 70's on how to modify the head of the triumph 6 for more power racing etc written by David Vizzard. am keen on any "modern" tips and tricks i have the tools and time a steady hand needed but in saying that i dont want to waste time doing something thats been superseded by better methods. Anyone able to comment. so far i believe most of the work needs to be in the exhaust ports as the inlet supposedly flows well in my model of head without any need to enlarge it. comments welcome feel free to consult your grandfathers and get back to me.
  21. I did a Crude body drop on my mates hunter 10 years ago we cut the entire floor pan out and lowered the body then welded it back up it was huge amount of work but hey we were young and it looked choice. it got around for a few months but ended up at the scrappers.
  22. Fuck wof reg and severley fucked head gasket just before beach hop Yay! seized just as i arrived at a job interview and radiator dropped its guts on road. after the interview she fired up again and spewed big bubbles of C02 out the rad so topped rad up retarded the timing a bit and nursed it home she got up to 3/4 temp the whole way home but ran fairly sweet whipped head off once engine was at a temp that i could work on it. good news is the bores are sweet no ugly damage and head is straight so my old man has kidnapped the cylinder head and is going to town on it and i'm going tidy up the rest of the mess. last owner had cooked it a few times and has evidently fitted the wrong head gasket (using a non reccessed block gasket) oh well she'll be well sorted after this hickup. if it dies again though she's getting a small block chev.
  23. So after 18 months of been reliable the old girl spat the dummy today (on the way to job interview) and has blown a head gasket i've got it all stripped down now and will start tidying up the head while its off. Bummer cos i just gave it a epic birthday including new hoses oils coolant and new gaskets to stop oil leaks etc. Anyone got a spare headset for a triumph? on plus side the old girl appears to have been running perfectly up until yesterday as all the cylinders are perfect.
  24. Loving that roof rack you whipped up.
  25. Pictureless update but a positive one spent last weekend rolling guards because with the new rack i got alot more lock and scored some sweet guardrub. SO today the old bitch got a Warrant bloody stoked cos that means all my work has paid off. LEGAL Yus!!
