  1. Progress. Car now runs and kinda drives. Four weeks to the day since i took it off the road. http://www.tasteslikepetrol.net/2017/03/speeduino-rover-sd1-four-weeks/
  2. If you have no luck in akl, i'd give coastal fasteners down here a call, http://www.coastalfasteners.co.nz/
  3. Heard from the previous owner, apparently the restrictor plate in the exhaust was removed a couple of years ago. Ill still check just in case. Shame I can prove the myth myself, but it sounds like this one was restricted by Suzuki NZ.
  4. Reconditioned the carb today. Sure enough, the pilot jet was the culprit. Completely blocked. http://www.tasteslikepetrol.net/2017/03/scooty-puff-jr-its-alive/
  5. I dropped my horrible one piece exhaust yesterday so i can fit the wideband http://www.tasteslikepetrol.net/2017/03/speeduino-rover-sd1-dropping-the-exhaust/
  6. I picked this up yesterday, a 2007 Suzuki SJ50QT. At the moment its a non-runner, mostly, and smokes like buggery. It had the wrong oil in it, and there appears to be some issues with the carb and not supplying enough fuel. Should be some fun when i get it running. http://www.tasteslikepetrol.net/2017/03/scooty-puff-jr-welcome-home/ It also has this interesting little tag....
  7. I did some more work on the car this evening. Radiator is back in, as is the modified intake. http://www.tasteslikepetrol.net/2017/03/speeduino-rover-sd1-more-coolant-on-the-ground/
  8. I was really hoping to get a couple of tanks of gas on the old setup so i could compare, but i just ran out of time to go through 120 odd liters of gas. It cant be worse than the Lucas tune, surely.
  9. Woah, whats this, an update?! Much progress has been made. http://www.tasteslikepetrol.net/2017/02/speeduino-rover-sd1-a-rather-large-update/
  10. LSD in FWD is common on higher performance models. All Type Rs had then for instance. Hell, my subbie has an LSD front and rear, and a viscous coupling in the center.
  11. Haha, so many feels for having a British car thats been "barried". Looks good, i like the minilite style wheels on it. Will follow.
  12. haha yes, those little bastards will cut deep if you dont!
  13. Didnt have one on hand tbh. The wire will be sleeved, and will have a section of corrugated tubing on that section and then firmly ziptied to the bracket. I can change it at a later date if needed. That bolts a fun one though as its into a coolant gallery and when you remove it a nice jet of coolant shoots out.
  14. I tidied the mounts and brackets i made up and gave them a paint. http://www.tasteslikepetrol.net/2017/02/speeduino-rover-sd1-paint-it-blaaack/
  15. The new loom is coming together nicely. http://www.tasteslikepetrol.net/2017/02/speeduino-rover-sd1-a-new-loom-begins/
  16. I get the feeling they went for about 5 hundy for the set. Was thinking of grabbing them as spares for my car, but dont have the space to store them.
  17. There was a set on TM a couple of months ago. Dont come up often though, but if your wallet is too heavy then Rimmer Bros sell brand new replicas.
  18. I also did the rocker cover gaskets http://www.tasteslikepetrol.net/2017/02/rover-sd1-rocker-cover-gaskets/
  19. I removed the standard loom today http://www.tasteslikepetrol.net/2017/02/speeduino-rover-sd1-loom-removal/
  20. I made some more progress today. The coil bracket is finally done being made. Next is to start the wiring. http://www.tasteslikepetrol.net/2017/02/speeduino-rover-sd1-fabrication-fun-times/
  21. Took some time out to flush my heater core in the hopes it will fix my cold heater. http://www.tasteslikepetrol.net/2017/02/rover-sd1-heater-core-flushing/
  22. My SD1 was a good example of this. WOF before i got it, but it somehow passed with low brake pads, a serious fuel leak, and a couple of small things. That cracked wheel is farked. Good things the trump isnt too heavy and you didnt go kerb hopping.
  23. And i cant leave anything well enough alone. As soon as i got home i pulled the car apart, to begin fitting my custom Speeduino ECU. http://www.tasteslikepetrol.net/2017/02/speeduino-rover-sd1-it-begins/ Discuss
