  1. To get the electric start to go connect the earth to -ve, then the thickest wire is the starter which goes to +ve. I think it might have been red or yellow, can't really remember sorry
  2. I had this contraption myself a while back actually. Once you get that clutch sorted you should find it rides quite nicely. I'll state now that I was not in any way responsible for the crappy paint job or welded up kickstart haha. I found the wiring job is a little more complicated than you might initially think actually. Managed to get the motor to turn over by applying a voltage, but had all sorts of issues getting a useable voltage out of the system that could actually be used to power or charge anything. Hopefully you have better success with it then I did. This might be some help perhaps https://dl.dropboxusercontent.com/u/6391/Suzuki%202t%20singles%20service.pdf Shouldn't be impossible to sort at all, I just got a big bike needing some work when I was fiddling with this so ran out of time or patience pretty quickly
  3. Yeah, that's the current thoughts, should be enough to stop it. Not entirely sure actually, engine has no markings or anything on it and have not ridden it. Person I got it off thought it was 160cc, but having my doubts about that, he didn't seem to know much about it. Any way to tell with these chinese engines? No markings or serial number I can easily see on it
  4. Brake assembly off the chopper is missing unfortunately. There is still a disc, but no caliper, hydraulic line or reservoir. Thinking I will get a generic pit bike unit though. Sorry, it only had one electric motor which has already gone to the tip.
  5. So I've got a bit of a project to keep me busy. Essentially I got a free stuffed mobility scooter from a mate who didn't want it anymore. The whole electrical system on it was stuffed, beyond easy/economical repair. So after that had sat in my back yard for a while I was offered a stupid pit bike chopper thing which hadn't run in years for a box of woodstocks. I obviously was happy to acquire it. The plan now is to merge the two together, ending up something like this: After a fair bit of stuffing around with the pit bike engine, including replacing coil, cdi, sparkplug and re-wiring the whole thing I finally got it going. Carb is pretty stuffed, choke seems to be permanently on but it seems to go ok at least, shouldn't be too difficult to fix. Have got some steel to make up some mounts with the plan of mounting the engine under the seat area. Will need to sort out some sort of brake system and way to attach a sprocket to an axle. Will probably get a mate to mill something up for the sprocket. Any suggestions for a decent/cheap braking system?
  6. So one of the things I need to sort on this is the headlight. I can chuck in a bulb without any issues, but was thinking about an LED conversion to get more, whiter light. Bike runs a 6V system, currently without a battery or regulator but I have a battery and can buy/make a regulator quite easily. Anyone have any ideas/suggestions for how to go about an LED conversion?
  7. In the crash I broke my arm and nose, sliced up my nose and eye socket requiring stitches, cut my leg and suffered quite a bad brain injury. Basically I couldn't remember anything at all for almost 3 weeks. Ended up spending about 7 weeks in hospital over the whole thing. Memory back again now though, few minor ongoing issues but getting there
  8. While I was in hospital some awesome mates decided to rebuild my bike for me. I had no idea at all that this was happening. This weekend at the Hanmer meet Jonny rode over on a sweet looking bike, I was very impressed. Before long I started to realise that the number plate and engine looked kind of familiar, sure enough it was my bike rebuilt. Looks and rides amazing, incredibly impressed. Thanks so much again to everyone that has helped out and contributed to the build, I really appreciate it and am stoked.
  9. So I got this bike as a project/fun toy to hoon around on last year, never got around to doing a thread for it. Started off with replacing the bars with some drag bars and giving it a re-spray. Got pretty sick of the uncomfortable, ripped and nasty looking seat so set about converting it to a skateboard seat with the intention of eventually getting it trimmed up. Also joined QCR. Bike was going pretty well, no real issues. One night I was riding to Smash Palace when a car (who was supposed to give way) turned directly in front of me. Had no time to stop or swerve so smashed straight into the car, leaving the bike looking less than impressive and breaking several bones. Basically the entire front end, frame, tank, wheel etc were stuffed
  10. Haven't really done much on this recently. I managed to purchase a rebuilt engine for it from Horse25, so have been tidying that up a bit and painting it before I get ready to plonk it in. Will probably tidy up and paint the engine bay at the same time as well as getting a new exhaust made up for it. Not entirely sure what my plan is for intake yet, got a Weber 32/36 and manifold off i500gt which I have (probably badly) rebuilt and will use to get things running at least. Still contemplating if I want to go down the bike carbs or sidedraught route in the future. If anyone has any opinions or suggestions feel free to let me know in the discussion.
  11. I think that he means that if there is adjustable gear throughout once he has the cert it can be adjusted to whatever setting he wants (even if illegal), once the cert plate is on there won't be many cops or WOF places that actually care/notice
  12. if you pull a plug is it wet at all? Is the spark a bright blue colour or is it more orange?
  13. You should convert your slam trailer Ned
  14. Could be the condenser, would be my pick as sounds like everything else is working
  15. ^What? It's taken decades to get patina as sweet as that, looks ideal as-is in my opinion. Appears to be fairly thick steel so I don't think it's going to rust away in the near future
  16. $95 US + shipping wideband? Where from? All of the decent ones that I've been able to find that include sensor, controller, gauge etc are all around $150 US +.
  17. Tried doing a plug chop to see if it is running rich or lean? Does pulling on choke help things at all or make worse? If it's lean, putting that filter on it should help matters
  18. No, with the 2L jets it will run really rich. I tried a 32/36 carb on my 1300 that was jetted for a 1600 and it ran rich to the point that it was dumping fuel into the oil, no doubt a 2L jetted carb would be even worse
  19. Wow, car is looking great man! What height did you get it certed at?
  20. PM'd. Anyone had any experience with a Nikki? Any harder/easier to tune then a weber?
  21. Seat is done thanks to Lewis! Stoked with how it has come out, can't wait to get it and put it on. Then just need to fix the starter motor, mount rear light, replace clutch, get a new rear tyre and it should be ready for WOF.
  22. Yup, but wouldn't need a cert for just adding some lowering springs and shocks provided the height was over 100mm and can be made captive without modifying the strut at all
  23. I've acquired a worked 1600 crossflow for my escort, but I need to get a carb for it. I'm wanting to get a cheap weber for now then save up for some sidedraughts or have a play with bike carbs in the future. I've been offered a crossflow manifold and a weber 32/36 DGAV off a 2.0L pinto. Is this carb going to work as I want it to? Will need to re-jet obviously. From some research it seems that some people don't have any issues at all with these carbs, others say that they don't idle properly no matter what you do and aren't right for the engine. Can anyone confirm that this carb will will work sweet? I was planning on jetting it to same specs as this to get it running then fiddle with it from there Main Jet Primary 140, Secondary 140 Emulsion Tube Primary F50, Secondary F50 Air correction Jet Primary 170, Secondary 140 Idle Jet Primary 55, Secondary 45 Pump Jet 50 Do these jet sizes seem reasonable to start with? Finally, I was planning on getting a filter like this which has a height of roughly 6.5cm. Will this have any bonnet clearance issues?
  24. A turbo diesel would be incredibly sweet in this. A 1kz or similar shouldn't be impossible to squeeze in, although would likely need to upgrade the rest of the drivetrain to suit
