I think I'll find a suitable mechanical water temp gauge to keep an eye on things untill another cluster pops up. I wouldn't normally bother with a black plate but felt it suited the darker rear garnish, tinted windows and black tail light surrounds nicely as well as the colour of choice of clothing for true hard core techno heads 9 1 Quote Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...
Jeffs_Emporium Posted June 22, 2023 Author Share Posted June 22, 2023 Some boomerang Work Ewing II were sourced in a trade which I had originally traded for something else, i think @Raizer originally os freighted them to me years ago. They were a 15x6.5 +41. Upon test fitting the fronts didn't have enough clearance to the upper arm and balljoint. I then sourced a 6.5 +17 pair from yahoo auctions and switched the centers over after Aidan at pine engineering painted them for me. This leaves me with a spare +41 5x114.3 pair for a naughty resizing for the rear in the future. I've been window shopping tyres and doing calculations on final drive plus trying to find something with a suitable load rating. 185/60/15 is legal for a 6.5 rim and will put me in the ballpark to use 3.73 or 3.9 diff ratios to get similar highway rpm as stock. 3.9 for 3y use and 3.73 for when the engine is upgraded I'm thinking. Man hilux lsd are cheap and plentiful compared to anything I've owned. Aidan was kind enough to draw up the centre caps, plates and threads for me from a sample so I can have them cnc machined when ready to complete the wheels 8 Quote Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...

Picked up this local rebuilt second gen 1G-GTE and sold my Auckland 1GGE (thanks @Kelvin) Popped the rear access panel off the hiace and did some measuring -From 3Y block-bellhousing surface to radiator i have 700mm -From 1g block to front of crank pulley i have 688mm Quick math leaves 12mm for clearance if the 1g bellhousing is same length as the 3y one. I'll change to NA cam covers and 1jzgte intake to help with height clearance under seats and they look more appealing, I think that will be OK! The mid sump looks to be the right one also New part time employer @BobbyBreeze has me fizzing to do some extra curricular custom exhaust manifold to make it all work with an updated single turbo. It was a hard call for me to go turbo route instead of NA but the criteria for the van is to be able to hoon with all the boys and do a sick burnout so I reckon this is the best way forward. The later front the van currently has has definitely grown on me but I can not locate the missing cornerlamp/lense. When picking them up today one of the guys working there helped me load them in the van. He was loving that it was a supercustom and manual and noticed the missing corner light. He said he used to work around the corner at autolights and was sure the missing corner light was there. Popped over and sure enough they had it. Have been looking all corners of the internet since I got this thing. 75+gst and it was mine. Jeffs_Emporium Posted August 17, 2023 Author Share Posted August 17, 2023 Recently I was able to take the 20:6 speedo drive from the yh61hv at my local pickapart to assist with 10% smaller tyres fitted its still out by 6% but I think that's the most teeth available with 5 on the gearbox side. Probably be in the ballpark if I change to 3.9 final drive. Some of the toyota manuals arrived and while looking for the tacho wiring I found the 104km/h chime to de-pin (c3) Still at a bit of a loss with the tacho even though I've identified the pins. I tried an old tacho wired direct to them with no luck. It has a distributor with coil built into the side of it under the cap with just one two pin plug going to it it (ig+ and ig-?) Bit by bit it's feeling a bit less shit! I also lowered the front to level it out. Ignored the rust and installed some Carrozzeria audio Picked up this 1999 FH-P7000MD model with a lower half that tilts which is optimum for van seating height to radio location, I just can't see a thing on the top half. This era of carrozzeria is perfect for adding Bluetooth via the ipbus cd changer control port Paired with the TS-X9401ZY which was a Daihatsu move factory option ceiling speaker. works pretty well in the spot where the missing rear aircon piece is. Mounting to factory holes on the body after I drilled a couple of holes in the bracket the speaker came with and is slim enough not to obstruct rear passengers view out windscreen.
