markw
Hey folks, I'm stripping back my car for some body and paint work. I'll be stripping the paint off on the relevant panels, but I'll be paying someone to do the panel and paint work. How should I treat the panels once stripped to prevent surface rust? In the past I used an acid product (I don't recall what it was called). However, on the same car I experienced paint lifting from the bare metal some time later. tortron
I found I didn't need to. With the 3m type strip disc the factory zinc coating remained intact and they have sat in my shed for over a year with no paint on them. Wire brush however stripped it off and o got some flash rust on those ones (but I just went over again with the strip disc before paint)
Dudley
Epiphos will protect bare steel if inside until panel work is done. And then clean it off properly and epoxy the steel
