How do you protect bare metal before priming

Hey everyone. Im currently stripping down a MK1 Escort to bare metal but its likely to be a long process as I dont get a lot of time to work on it each week. 

Just looking for recommendations for what to use on the bare metal to prevent further rusting while the rest of the body is being stripped down. There are so many products out there its pretty hard to choose something

It will buy you twelve months before bare steel will rust. You absolutely must wear a respirator when applying it. (Can be brushed or sprayed) or it will blow your head off. (I've been high as fuck brushing it outside with a breeze blowing)

Phosphoric acid, 'deoxidine' brand is fine

Best bet is to get some 2 part epoxy primer and paint it. Brush it on if you have to.
