Generator to Alternator

Hey ive got a 1300 x flow engine in a mk2 cortina and i have a faulty generator.my parts man said it was hard to get a good replacement one so wanted to know what was required in hooking up a alternator.do i need to add any wires/remove any wires to connect this successfully?what car should i look at getting one from?

I just did my Vauxhall. Hardest part was making up the brackets and lining up the pulleys. I used a bosch out of a polo. Basically only 3 wires out (2 power and 1 for alt light) I used this tut for guidance.

Lucas alternator, old school kind.  On big wire to battery, the other little wire to the dash light which goes to the switch & from the switch the fuse box if i remember correctly.

have a look through this, it sme helping a guy out doing the same thing, and there is a link to the article I used near the bottom (think tis the same as the one someone posted earlier). I did it in a mk2 cortina as well and was super simple.
