Backer101
After my engines been running for like 30 seconds or so oil starts to come out of the breather holes in the cap? cant figure out what it is? not just a few drips either it just runs out. Frosty
Is the breather piping hooked up? nzed is correct, this is most likely caused by pressure in the crankcase caused by a burnt out piston, meaning your engine is buggered. But I have seen a head gasket blow into an oil gallery cause this to which is at least repairable without rebuilding the whole engine. Backer101
hmmm. well i took the cap off while running, and its just splattering quite normally, the cap doesnt have a breather hose, just two holes under the top of the cap, it seems to just catch too much up tin the top of the cap then just drip out, it started to bit it a bit less after a while. its a pinto. cap is off a cross flow, the little thin top ones. Frosty
That would be your problem . Wrong cap. The 2Lt Cortina uses the cap as the vent with a hose running to the air cleaner.
eke_zetec_RWD
Hose? News to me. Most likely rings.
Backer101
mm yeaa not everyone has those big ones with the hose.. maybe i need to. but the thing is my front of the engine sits high and that big cap hits the bonnet. what rings?
Frosty
He means the piston rings. here's how to check if you actually have a problem other than a small oil leak because you are using the wrong cap. Start the engine and take the filler cap of, place a bit of paper over the hole and see how much it moves. If it bounces up and down more than 1mm or so your problem is larger than the wrong cap. If you haven't got enough room for the right cap ether block the vent holes in the cap you are using or find a cap that does the job that hasn't got a vent system in it or cut down the filler pipe enough so you can fit the right cap and run the hose to a catch can. Escortn
My motor was doing the same thing man, and I've got the same cap as you. Turned out rings were buggered so I got it rebuilt

Backer101
is it ok to run no breather at all. will it not build up any pressure?
Ghostchips
is it ok to run no breather at all. will it not build up any pressure? If there is nowhere for pressure to get out the oil normally gets forced out of either the rear main of front main seal. Sometimes the cam seal. Saw someones mitzi do that twice. Frosty
The vent system on the Cortina 2.0 is under the inlet and has it's own pipe that goes from the inlet manifold into a canister on the block. The top one is designed as a way for the air to get into the engine not out. You might want to check the little valve that controls the air flow on that lower pipe isn't blocked or defective.
