My name is Russell
If you are eventually going compression is there any point? How will you eventually do your sway bar? Keen to convert also. Going to try grab a kit from Burton store when in the UK. Got any good snaps of converted sway bar settups?
tehnzbrad
oh im not eventually going compression struts its one or the other... nah not of the anti dive kit.. heres one of compression sturts apparently you have to use real stiff springs like in excess of 500lb for it to work properly because all it does is locate the struts to a positive position and doesnt do as much as a ARB would in terms of stopping body roll.... ( after reading sheens on turbosport ) but you can also use a drop link so you can use the sway bar AND comp struts... but i cant see all that helping an awful lot over an anti dive kit so thats why im asking you guys to see what you think..? My name is Russell
Some interesting bars and links here http://www.summitracing.com/search/part-type/sway-bars?keyword=swaybar&kr=swaybar
My name is Russell
This would be cool on the diff / wild idea? http://www.summitracing.com/parts/cee-2027/media/images Cant seem to edit my posts into one
tehnzbrad
haha yeah that diff Roll bar look interesting, you could get fully insane and set the entire suspension up like a V8 touring car fully adjustable roll centres and stuff, have it set up like the metal man escort the running gear and suspension in this thing is insane, saw it in one of my classic car mags... http://www.classiccar.co.nz/articles/ford-escort-mk-i-metalman-monster-227 but for me i like things real simple i wouldnt get too far into super outrageous space age mega ownage suspension setups unless it helped handling so much of factory it would be like driving a go kart... which can be achieved by simple methods im sure... but hey i guess every one has their own opinion
My name is Russell
I'm a big fan of good quality shocks
J-W-G
What exactly are you wanting to do with either the compression strut or anti dive kit? The anti dive kit only stops nose diving under heavy braking? I would just get good shocks and a 24mm kmac or whiteline bar with the adjustable tca's,thats pretty much going to be my set up. tehnzbrad
looking basicly to improve handling as much as i can for low $$$, ill look into the kmac/ whiteline sway bars, cheers
My name is Russell
I just made my own. I now have double width clamps to be installed at some stage too.
tehnzbrad
that actually looks pretty simple to make aye, i suppose it works with the thicker sway bar? does that lower the sway bar much more than factory or does it just provide more clamp points? My name is Russell
Keeps it all original, all its doing is adding an extra mount to the centre to make it more rigid under breaking.
kpr
i don't know escorts, but kp starlets run basically the same setup up front. unless you are getting real serious, i would stick with the factory setup. just add some stiffer bushes and diy something up like low'n'slow to further reduce the deflection. spend your cash on a good shock and spring combo. plus a well setup alignment. not sure how easy it is on escorts. but you should be able to either move the mounting points for the bar, or mod the bar to dial in more caster
My name is Russell
Check if your rear leaves have round shims at the ends between the leaves, remove those to increase friction. Good shocks rule in an escort / any car
My name is Russell
Flip check this out! http://www.ebay.com/itm/Escort-Mk1-Mk2-Special-WRC-Type-Front-Suspension-Struts-Wheel-Hub-Assembly-Kit-/120903704378?pt=UK_CarsParts_Vehicles_CarParts_SM&hash=item1c266c1f3a So adding compression struts would give you caster adjustment too? had not thought of that, bonus. tehnzbrad
decided im just going to run it standard with adjustable TCA's, adjusties on 300lb springs, gas shocks... will see if i need the swaybar side of things upgraded when its on the road. Horse25
Might not even need adjustable TCA's depending on what top mounts you go with?
My name is Russell
Are adjustable TCA's be road legable?
Horse25
the cast ones you can get are, not the welded ones
