Seedy Al
hey gues, i know I'm a mechanic, and I should be able to answer this my self, but to be honest I havnt had to do to much alternator wiring conversion stuff. so..... My crown, MS110, has the main battery wire that bolts to the alternator, and two wires. I unfortunantly dont have the original alternator for the car to know what those two wires did. So the 2jz alternator has three wires. and the main battery one that bolts on. So these are Ign. so igition feed. L, for warnign lamp And S, for battery Voltage sensor. I assume the original 2 wires from the crown are Igintion, and lamp. So if that is the case, do i need to wire up the S wire on the 2jz alternator? I havnt tested the original wiring yet as I havtn connected a battery up to the car. probably will tomorrow and see if I get anything out of the wires..... Or, would it be that the lamp is also the exciter wire, and i need to wire up the other wire to the S pin on the alternator? Any help would be lovely. Clearly dont want to get it wrong haha Cheers Allan
Yowzer
I skipped a wire and it worked fine when I did it. I think it was the Sense wire I didn't hooked up. The Ign wire seems to do the same job. I'll check with Keegan coz it's on his car.
e30-323ti
Looks like it just runs from the battery: (JZZ31 chassis) I don't recall wiring it up on my 1JZ-GTE either...
Seedy Al
I kinda figured it would just run from the battery, which i found weird, as there is already a wire running from the battery haha yeah let me know to confirm Mr Yowzer, I figured you would be the man t chat with about it given the crowns in your life. governorsam
battery voltage sensing wire. either connect it to the "+" terminal of the alternator, or as factory and direct to the battery "+". all it dose is regulate to battery voltage, eliminating any voltage drop in the main feed wire. good if the battery is far away from the alternator. most cars are fine to just hook it up to the "+" on the back of the alt.
