I've been looking at different conversions, I see that the 4d56t is wideblock bolt pattern. So a wideblock 4g63t would bolt to the standard manual 'box. The question is what other engines are the same bolt pattern? 6g72/ 74? Also he's keen on a 1UZ conversion using the mitsi box. How hard is that? fuel Posted February 2, 2012 Share Posted February 2, 2012 Starion engine is wideblock but vr4/evo engine is narrowblock. V6 engines have a different bellhousing entirely. fuel Posted February 2, 2012 Share Posted February 2, 2012 should have the V5MT1 steel cased gearbox then - unfortunately these boxes don't share a common gearbox to bellhousing bolt pattern and the bellhousing makes up for the front half of the gearbox. hmmmnz Posted February 5, 2012 Share Posted February 5, 2012 a guy on the delica forum (uses same motor) did a 3.8 v6 conversion to his van. bugger if i know how he managed to fit it in the van, i had enough trouble getting the standard diesel motor back in, not that you'd have that trouble in the ute, there is a crowd in the tron who make custom bell housing adapters mainly for old cars to use the celica 5 speed, but he'll make any thing, Quote Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...

There to weak and dont shift as nice. Depends which box you use.... Toyota used a number of different boxes which vary in strength. I can only assume your old man wants to keep it 4x4?
