Depending on how crazy you want to get my mate threw a cortina engine in his one, the diffs dont handle much so find a capri diff and youl be gold. In any sense lumpy cams dual carbs, headers will squeeze more out of it, but then again not much compared to another engine with more horses. Projects take ages, everything needs to be done once and proper unless you want to keep re-doing things over and over. Cert is last. whats your budget?

Bad feeling this is gona get fucked real quick. Prove me wrong.

But If your really looking for power than the cross flow isnt a powerhouse by any means, like magnum said if you want to stick with the crossflow get a new cam (kent cams 234 or 244 or give kelford a call up and see what they can do) Bike carbs go for it or dual side draughts, up the compression using 1300 x flow pistons, port and polish, 2" exhaust and youll be good for 110-120hp. And last but not least start setting your budget and think about what you want from it, G-rolla, daily or thrash it to fuck.

Hey guys thanks for the feedback!!

Have had this project about a year and haven't even touched the engine, so i think its about time to start thinking about that.. talking budget wise defiantly nothing special as still at school.. with my part time job something around $80 week. looking foe a better job

My mate is selling a red top 4age for $350 without box or anything, i could be interested in buying that but dont really have an idea of what else i need apart from box and a stronger diff

the car atm has a 2inch exhaust with two coby mufflers. apparently the cam isnt standard thats what my mechanic told me but i really have no idea.

The car is defiantly gonna be my daily. pretty much drive to school and back. and skid it in the wet but dont really like putting to much strain on my diff and engine.

Well hearing that im relieved! Had my escort for about the same time and pretty much in the same boat mate. If a came across as older(As im also 16) or like a no it all. Its just from what ive read and helped my mate do. As its your daily i would keep the xflow dont by the 4age. Use the money to work the kent then you wont need to worry about the diff and shit. Or if you want a good increase in power and torque then 2litre pinto it i have a block at home if you want that to get you started

yeh getting a 4age in their requires a bit more work then the pinto.

bellhousing for a 4age start from 3-4 hundy and thats either custom made to fit W5x series($400-700) or for an original t50 gearbox($250+). prob a grand when your done with clutch etc.

custom made drive shaft $50-250 and balanced, the diff, brakes.. suspension ...

but yeh just some advice, keep original engine in it and tidy it up, and sell it off, when you want more power for something of the next level 2L equivilant...

I heard a guy bought an rs2000 escort cosworth for 10g's just to rip the motor out and slam it in one of these, thats dedication for ya. (or dumness)
