BlownCorona
I have a weber 32/36 and was wondering if any of you guys have ever put one on a Toyota 18r engine. and would have any info on hooking up the throttle and fuel line and any other stuff that needs doing? I'm new to carb swapping but have read that the 32/36 is a good upgrade.

BlownCorona
reading material is always awesome, Thanks!
smokin' joe
for the throttle, use a smallish cable wheel of something like a hon'coffcoff'da or make the spacer/adapter thicker to use the 18r unit. fuel line easy enough. don't use a cortina air filter housing.........it will make the car horribly unreliable and prone to leaks
mutiny
are you using a adapter plate or just welding the holes on your factory manifold? i just welded mine then drilled and tapped new ones, cant remember what jets i ended up using. as for fuel i think i bent the inlet a little but was still tight on the thermostat housing. my car had a factory fuel return so i used that too for the throttle i think i used my cars factory bracket and modified it to suit fuck i cant remember, wasnt even that long ago
BlownCorona
Not sure if ill use an adapter or modify to suit, would ideally like to revert back to stock if need be so may be an adapter, thought i have heard they can be a bit crap. and ive sourced info on the correct jets. i did wonder about the factory linkage being usable. and i guess fuel cant be too hard to hook up, could just use some rubber fuel line. mutiny
yeah i had rubber fuel line, youll see when you get it on, it may not be a problem if you use an adaptor though, will sit higher than mine did
BlownCorona
out of curiosity, what sort of gains did you get on the 21r?
mutiny
well my factory carb was fucked so never really ran it with it, i couldnt find another, mine was actually a 21r
BlownCorona
Yeah saw that. well i will eventually get it hooked up and ill try to document it and do somewhat of a write up, ive heard good things about these carbs
mutiny
yeah well if you need any help let me know your in my area so can always pop round, palmside brought a load of jets in when i built mine, i also have a wee baggy with some here
smokin' joe
adapters work fine, but i wouldn't touch one of those nasty tings from Philspeed. the choke holes don't line up and are nasty cheap cast alloy.used one of his, once, then built my own from alloy plate they can be made really easily for the toyota as 2 holes should line up with a slight file and the other are done with with a cranked stud or counter-bored capscrews. BlownCorona
My car has a heat shield and was considering using that to make an adapter out of, good idea? yes/no? i can get pics if i dont make any sense
BlownCorona
For the 18r the jets need to be Mains primary: 140 secondary: 150 Air Correctors primary: 165 secondary: 160 Anyone got some of these laying around? or how much are they to buy, and where from? BlownCorona
Do you think Palmside would sell decent adapters? i've read a lot about people using Redline Weber adapters but cant find them anywhere, not even on Redlines website, if not. where would i get the materials and how would i go about making a decent adapter? i don't want any performance gains to be lost due to crappy fitting... smokin' joe
if you want to make your own, go to scrap dealer/ engineer and get a piece of 12mm+ ally plate, bore some holes and blend each side with a die grinder.pretty easy if you have the necessary tools
BlownCorona
well i dont have a die grinder, would a dremel do the trick? however what do you mean by blend the sides? other than that i should be pretty sweet to make something up. Thanks
smokin' joe
i suppose a dremel would do, be a bit slower?? you will need to blend the transition from the Weber side to the Toyota side and radius so the mix flows nicely
