HighLUX
Has anybody done this or have an idea on how to do it? Reason I ask is that pretty much all 1kz engines have an auto or 4wd box behind them so no factory 2wd gearboxes that I know of W55 with an adapter? Do they share a common bellhousing pattern with another toyota engine?
CaMpylobacter
get a 4wd manual bellhousing and bolt it on a w series. afaik that's all they do, but in reverse, when 1jzing 4x4 boxes. piece of piss?
Jif
Im sure some of the hi-ace have 1kzs and are rwd or they might be a 1kd? engine
HighLUX
yea hiace vans come 1kz and manual but a van gearbox would be unsuitable as I require floor change whereas van gearboxes are cable shifted
thegreatestben
You'd probably get away with using the bellhousing. Do the 1kz vans have a G52 in them? If so the G series boxes use the same front housing as a W5* series box.
HighLUX
Will look into all of this, finding a manual 1kz bellhousing could be hard and expensive. There are engines sold on trademe with auto bellhousings, could one these be of any use?
thegreatestben
There's a few 1uz auto bellhousing to W series adaptor plates. I couldn't find any info to confirm G series box in the kzh1** Would definitely be a sweet end result if you can manage it
Spencer
well its going to be G or R so if you find a manual bell its easy to make it work. At last resort try Toyota, back before they were sold out w55 JZ bell housings were going real cheap on special price
