Sorensin
Hi guys I need to get a new carb for my escort, its a worked 1600 engine. I was just wondering as they seem to be more common can I use a 2Ltr cortina carb and just have it rejetted for a 1600? If so does anyone know anyone good/cheap in auckland who does this? I've been told to try find a 32/36 webber.. any other suggestions. Thanks

sholdowa
yup they fit straight on. unfortunately last time I did this, the sodding thing wouldn't idle! ran great otherwise, so we ended up re-jetting a 1300gt weber carb. still gutted... Beaver
also intersted in this....or any info on jet sizes suitable for 2L carb on 1600....
Escorto.
yes you will have to have it rejetted to suit ur engine dont know of anybody in aux tho, i got Ian Kerr in whangas to do mine my twin dells cost $160 to jet an balance. but it could be up to $500 if the carb needs rebuilding. not a clue as to the jet sizing, the carb specialist will use a air-fuel ratio meter to find that out. My name is Russell
if you completely strip it down and be extremely matriculate you can do it yourself. You just need to find the specifications for what size jets your 1600 requires and if they are incorrect buy the correct sizes new. The sizes should be stamped on the side May as well but a rebuild kit while your at it, colins in wellington sells them for $60 for the 32/
Sorensin
I wouldn't have a clue what size jetts it would need, thats why I was hoping someone might recommend someone or some shop i could go in and get either some parts (kit/jetts etc) + advice or the work done on it.
