bubblegoose
is there any places in christchurch (or anywhere) with a decent reputation for repairing cracked cylinder heads? asked a few people and they don't want to touch it with somebody else's 10ft barge pole

Testament
it depends where and how come its cracked as to whether a lasting repair can be made. But it is definitely possible to do some weld repairs on aluminium heads unless the head is some really funky alloy.

RUNAMUCK
Another factor is that when you get an aluminuim head hot as fuck, (Like hot enough to crack it?) the metal can lose it's hardness. This means that the head bolts will pull into the aluminuim and it will be cunt to blow head gaskets. not saying yours has done this though. I wont spend a cent on an unknown head unless I have it's hardness checked and have it crack tested.
bubblegoose
its a bmw head they crack themselves just for lol's previous owner said it stared to run shit and use water and a local garage took the head off and had it crack tested, will get it harness tested as a matter of course before it gets welded (i would assume the guy doing the repair would check anyway otherwise its a pretty big waste of time)
