Weber (32/36) questions?

I've had a quick search about this but can find out much info... :?

Wondering who the Weber specialties are (on here, or workshops, etc)

I'm trying to mount a 32/36 carb onto my Mitzy 4G63 (SOHC) have "made up"

a mounting plate etc (see pic)

and with carb "on" plate

The Question is...

Is the way I've mounted the Weber ok?

Because, the "factory" carb has the accerator cable running to the BACK of the carb,

but I've got the accerator cable on the FRONT of the Weber (fuel bowl to the back)

So I'll need to suss out how to "hold" the cable and run the fuel lines etc

(not a major) but just wanting to make sure I had done everything right so far

Ford guys...

(but have noticed 2litre Pinto's have the same carb around the other way tho?)

note: the factory Mitzy carb's ports have the "bigger" of the two on the inside (closest to engine)

so I've mounted the Weber the same way around, and also honed out the inlet and adaptor plate to match this

the float bowl is definitely supposed to face forward. how much it matters is another question, it will probably mean you will be more likely to get float bowl surge/needle flutter under braking. If thats going to be an issue in the real world im not sure.

also, funny you said weber specialties - thats a shop in auckland

So the way I have it NOW, is the same as 2l pinto?

(thought it was the other way around?) :?

Either way you reckon it'll be sweet?

cos I dont really want to change everything (inlet/plate)

"also, funny you said weber specialties - thats a shop in auckland"

(yea I've been pricing a "new" 32/36 from there)

Sorry thought the right hand side of the photo was the rear of car

Sweet as

So reckon it be safe as to run it the way I've got it now?

(be a lot less fucking round, but would rather do it now than when its all together)

cheers

  • 2 weeks later...

Im sure everyones bored of this but...

I got this book today to check out fitment etc

(just borrowing, so have to learn fast)

bits005.jpg

It covers the 32/36 and (the little I've read) says...

"the float chamber should face the front of the vehicle with the float fulcrum pin axis

across the vehicle; this will diminish the effect of acceleration, braking and hill climbing

on the fuel level in the float chamber"

So think I'll try spinning "my" carb around and work backwards from there :doubt:

but I'll keep reading and see what else they reckon aswell...
