hello,

i needa bit help on my daily, i got an 89 isuzu flat deck single cab ute, running the 2.3 motor,

was drivn around 2nyt and it sounds like ive run a bottom end bearing, ok i can handle that, but my question to all the isuzu nuts is what the difference between the 2.3 and the 2.6, and not the 300cc(for the smart arses)

do the run the same block but different bores etc? wld it bolt on to orginal. cause one of these may be better to go with, any help much appricated

Jezz

do people ever just take the sump off in the car and take the crank out, replace brgs and ressable?

is this feasable? / not being clever i genuinly dont know/

(i realise most of the time the cranks fucked but yeah like in this situation)

Yeah it can be done, we did a con rod in place on my boss's old Delica van, it can be done on a lot of cars by dropping the Xmember and sump

The crank does not need to come out to replace the B/Es (the bearings at the crankshaft end of the conrod) and on some cars you can get away with chainging the mains (the bearings between the crank and the block) by loosening the crank and being careful/rough.

Taking the crank completely out of the insitu engine (RWD) will normally require gearbox removal so it isn't that small of a job
