Gaz
That was an awsome price indeed. Answering your question.. Itll be sweet to use. Is it baffled?
shizzl
500x500x300 is 75L ae?i was shit at maths at school i had a look under the escort, itll fit sweet, the escorts boot floor is fairly flat. ill just cut a hole, drop it in,and bolt it in with some nyloc nuts. ill need to plumb in a return outlet in the tank somewhere though. i wonder if i can get a pipe to go from the droptank filler to the original escort filler ill mount the fuel pump on the boot floor under the body next to the tank aswell.itll make running fuel lines easy as.. so it doesnt need a protective gaurd under the tank at all?i guess as long as its not in danger of being smashed into the ground when its low ae.... Esprit
I think you'll find that a droptank should run a bladder..... basically you may have trouble come WOF time not running a burst-proof tank positioned there. Given that if you get rear-ended the car is likely to crumple there as well as the tendency for the rear-ending car to submarine beneath the rear of the car in front, I'd check out the legality thoroughly first. Gaz
If its got the cortina sender/float etc then it should have a return in that. If not, that is where I would put it. Also, fuel pump under car must have a sheild round it so it isnt exposed for cert

True... but a drop-tank is a modification, which is judged differently. You might very well be alright but I'm just saying that it'd be heartbreaking to do all the work only to find that it's an illegal mod since it's not the sort of thing you can easily reverse like swapping out springs/shocks etc.
shizzl
i cant find anything on the lvvta site about them.. i could always just make a skid pan type protection thing for it.. aussie escorts have a droptank type fuel tank below the boot.. ill just put it in.. Gaz
There is nothing on the website I looked a few days ago. There is alot of stuff not covered in there. I thought they would have a whole artical on fuel systems. Anyways. Standard cortina drop tank is single walled with underseal all over the bottom
shizzl
sweet..cheers gaz. the guy said its got a cortina sender unit on it,so will it have a return on there?would be sick if it does
Gaz
Think it may or may not have one. I know some of the escort tanks did some didnt. I also know my mk2 cortina tank does.. but, it could have been put there afterwards for all I know.
