thminiman
first ones correct, also know as inner and outer tie rod what where/are you trying to do?
QCADTA
The bit circled in red in your first photo is your tie rod end. Should have a hex bit at the end of it to put your spanner on and one on the rod of your steering arm to undo it and should just come off and unscrew. dylan
what where/are you trying to do? cheers guys...... my problem is the shaft moving freely in the housing-shown in third picture like you can literally shake it with your hand and obviously this shouldnt be happening because if i hit a bump in it the whole left strut moves a bit im just wondering if there is a part in there missing/or something that commonly fucks out in them etc and as i said earlyer heaps of plastic shraps came out of there and some of the little bits look like they may even of had a thread on them
thminiman
where the tie rod goes into a solid arm, theres a ball joint type thing, that will just be fucking worn, once you get hold of a new one, you'll see how it goes on. and in turn the old one comes off
Abarth
Where the tie-rod goes into the main tube there is a plastic bush that holds the rod in place in the tube. The broken up plastic is probably the remains of the bush. The bush if fairly small its like a finger ring almost. Should be noted in a Haynes manual if you have got one. Abarth
I think BnT have them, because my mate used to work there and he had the same problem with his Strada. He actually used a Ford escort bush in his Strada so its very similar to the escort Ask for an 'inner tie-rod bush'. When I did mine I brought the proper bush for $10. Is not too bad job I took the whole steering rack out and replaced the bush. I just followed the Haynes manual.

Abarth
I probably explained all that like shit, so heres a picture of my fiats steering rack. I think thats your problem; the bush with the red arrow.
peteretep
seeing as the hard bit is done on your rack, you should take the whole thing out and give everything a clean while your at it
