63swb
hi, just wiring up my mk1 escort. this might sound stupid but with the starter motor there is only two terminals and im not sure which wires go on them the both seem to be grounded. i tried putting a big one from the battery on but it shorted it and turned the engine over. any help or a wiring diagram would be great thanks. 63swb
inertia i guess? but not entirly sure, is there an easy way to tell? i thought there would be a solenoid attached to the top of the starter but there doesnt seem to be one there? Jonny
If its got a separate solenoid i.e. not attached to the starter, it's inertia, but there should only be on contact on the back of the starter which goes to the solenoid, then the negative battery cable goes to the other contact on the solenoid/i think. did mine a week ago but sold the car so can't check. 90% positive though. 63swb
yeah that sounds right, only one cotact, i thought it was odd because every other car i have done has the solenoid attached. i tried to find it on the car but couldnt find one so it might be mising.
