Maybe, but also alot of those jappa rims he'd be talking about esp in the 4x100 pattern would be FWD offset anyway, so you may just may be alright for the offset in the end..

Ie Nissan Pulsars and Trueno's (??)

I run spacers on the front, like the rest said, good if you want to run FWD offset rims. I didnt have mine converted to a new stud pattern because id already purchased rims in the 4x108 stud pattern.

I only run front ones though because I had to space the wheel out away from the front adjustables, definatly be a good idea to change the stud pattern to something more common if your going to use them front and rear, be much easier and give you way better wheel selection.

used adapters on my rx7 the whole time i owned it,

never had a problem with them.

was running fwd offset rims and only had to get the guards lipped

so the tyres didnt scrape, but that was only cos i lowered it,

any rims would have rubbed
