Dropped the engine and box in today and found out that the g/box crossmember wont bolt up, if i can't suss it i'm going to have to mod an escort one to suit, anyone help me out here and what are the legalities of this? And do i have to change where my fuel line runs if its on the same side as the exhaust exit?

theres a few different g/box xmembers for the mk2 escort alone.

I know people who ran homemade xmembers with no issues at all, even i had a dodgy box section one for ages with no worries. try modding it or just using some spacers or something to make it work.

is it close to bolting up at all?

Why not sierra?

If ya drill new holes ya need plates on the top to suport extra strength

Sierra Xmembas wont fit Cortina's, but the Cortina auto one will work with the Sierra box, just needs to be put on backwards

yep, this is how its done, with a auto gb xmember from an automatic 3/4/5 tina. just wanna elongate a couple of the holes on one side and youll be away, fail to do so and youll probably fuck the thread in one of the holes like i done first time around becuase its just a little too tight.

Bolt holes compared to gearbox mount

Mount on normal way, bolts are about 50mm off

Crossmember turned backwards makes bolt holes go too far the other way

Esky crossmember i was going to widen to use
