spacie
hmm just a random question, when my esky was still on the road i went & got my suspension sussed out at a local shop & they sed it was all sweet, the only concern was that the "right rear leaf shackle bush" would need replacing sometime. However, i remember that sometimes when goin kinda tight around corners the front wheels would rub against the inside of the guards Also, when rolling with only ONE person in the backseat, the rear wheels hit the guards/the car hits its bumpstops (not sure which one) when going over VERY slight bumps in the road...wats up with all this?! i wanna lower it 2 inches all round but by the looks of it, its gonna b FAR worse goin over bumps if i do
oldrx7
sounds like you've got just old saggy suspesion, lowering a escort 2 inches will be sweeet, just do it right the 1st time. dobi sport do some 2 inch lowered coils for the front, get some new shocks shortened to keep the coils captive. if you've got the money, get new nolathane bushes etc for up front. leaves, get new shocks in the rear, either take out your leaves and get them compressed, archers or snells springs, and ask them to add an extra leaf in to stiffen them up, or just get some two inch lowring blocks made for the rear with new U bolts to suit
Gaz
mk1 escorts have tiny guards as I have said over and over again. What size wheels/tyres are you running now? They will need big flaring if they are 15s+ front and rear. Front bites and rear hits inner guard so needs pumping.
spacie
im still running the 13x6s, cant b arsed forking out & getting 15s @ the mo was planning on Dobi Sport 2inch lowering springs in the front, 2 inch lowering blocks in the back & nolathanes all round

HAH. fuckin hell. anyway get some new springs spacie, dont use blocks, and your car will handle way better, and might not be so scrapy

They are damn high standard.

spacie
also, it doesnt constantly scrape, just goin over little bumps in the road (im talkin uneven road here, let alone speed bumps) it more bounces (whether off the guard or bumpstops i dunno)
peteretep
my wheels scraped the gaurds(front and rear) when it was standard with 13x6 with 205's, got gaurds rolled and cut and then it was ok, when I lowered it, it started doing it a bit more, but deosnt do any damage (rubs on a smooth surface)
spacie
hmmm ok, so i should get my guards rolled?well the esky is @ the panelbeaters @ da mo...im thinking it actually hits the bumpstops, theres no visible damage 2 the rear guards. on the few times my front wheels have scrubbed, they have left damage (paint was worn down to the metal)
avenger79
a few things: get your leaves reset lower, blocks look silly.i would do the same if i had leaves in the rear of the wag while your cars at the panelbeaters/painter??,get the gaurds rolled.it pays to always do this if its getting repainted/touched up as you might fit larger rims in the future
peteretep
if they are at the panel beaters then get them to flare the gaurds, not roll, cost a bit more but will properly get rid of the problem

Gaz
Get them to pump the rear guards. If you ever want bigger then 14s this will save you time then. Here is a pic basically where it hits. Make sure they pump that part out. So your rear guards will look alot beefier from outside. Prob need to pump the guard from at least a couple inches above where it usually starts to bubble out. if that makes sense
spacie
mmmmkay, i dont want it 2 look real obvious tho, i hate the look of bubble flare/hardout obvious flared guards.
