Gaz
Big brake meaning the capri vented disks? They are 22mm thick so you need a spacer for use with AP calipers on them.
OSC
yeah thats the one the capri vented disc i know i need spacers the stub axles are also meant to be bigger and better on thems.
peteretep
capri struts are better, thats why everyone makes them coilovers unlike crappy escort struts
Gaz
capri struts are better, thats why everyone makes them coilovers unlike crappy escort struts I have two sets of escort coilovers. There is nothing wromng with them. Escort struts kinda suck for rally as the stub axle can crack and escort ones are not replaceable. That is why when you turn them into coil overs you weld the sleeve right to the bottom strengthening the rear of the stub axle. For anything apart from doing huge jumps they are sweet as. Gaz
Arnt the vented capri disks off the 2.8 injected capris only? here are new ones for a reasonable price new. http://www.palmside.co.nz/parts.asp?mak ... ory=BRAKES Why bother tho. Do you have brake fade problems?
OSC
no but i want heaps better stopping then standard mk2 and slowing from 220 repeatedly will cause them to fade so vented would be better and capri + ap calipers is bolt on so easy to do conversion i cant be assed spending alot of money or mucking around making stuff fit

OSC
do they bolt onto to escort or capri struts??? what discs do they take vented or solid?
Raizer
Mount needs to be slotted, think you can get away with capri disks, il post some pics + info soon
Gaz
What will you be building the car for that you need to slow from 220ks? The volvo calipers can be made to bolt on but why bother when price is same as AP and the APs do bolt straight on.
Raizer
The slotings easy enough to do, basicly just redrill The volvo calipers can be made to bolt on but why bother when price is same as AP and the APs do bolt straight on. Whats a pair of APs worth? I havnt seen many pairs of them for $50 or under, also how about the fact the volvos have larger pistons?
Raizer
You can use 2.8 capri disks, but the best 1s to use are e30 bmw 323i disks. They just need a lil machining. Thats 2mil from the hub and 2.5 from the face. And from memory 2mil off overall diamiter.

Whats a pair of APs worth? I havnt seen many pairs of them for $50 or under, also how about the fact the volvos have larger pistons? I myself think the slotting is dodgy but hey, what do i know. The AP calipers are the PERFECT calipers for the fact that the volume of oil is the same as standard escort calipers. Piston size is irrelevant. Pad size/piston distribution is more to the point. Raizer
The volvo ones arnt much bigger (oil volume wise), have a bigger pad face and if the slotting so dodgey they wouldent have been used on race/rally escorts/cortinas in Aus for the past 20 years. But either way there both good calipers.
Gaz
Whats the oil volumn of the Volvo ones and piston size?
Raizer
Depends if there the girling, ata or volvo brand ones, will measure the 1s we've got next time i got down the yard, cant be stuffed googling it.
SYKOV6
i used volvos on the mk2 with toyota disc rotors, ya only have to slot em about 2-3 mm each hole so its f-all . mine had a mk3 corty master cyl and no booster and stopped real hard. only cost about $300 for entire conversion.
