Window wiper spline early ford...HELP

As the title says.

Ok. The whole windscreen wiper blade fell off. There is usually a little spline that sticks out. Well this fell through so I have to climb in by the pedals to pop it back through.

Problem is that it wont sit there anymore so keeps falling through. There must be a little clip somewhere. Does anyone know where or what it looks like as im fuxzord with it. Have just been out there over an hour and am mad pissed of now. Last thing to get a WOF and its holding me up...

Anyone done it and have tips on putting it back on.. Also its a two man job which could be why im having trouble.

one of my mk2s (a white super) that now lives in wellington had little knerls that went over the spline that screwed on, they are really crappy cos they are made out of really soft metal and the bolts on them strip, last one i got came from repco, cost me $15 i think. otherwise if you got access to some bits and pieces change over to the early type that has the knerls built into the wiper assembly. $15 + Pnp if ya want one.....

the knerl on there already is probably stuck in the end of the wiper arm.. or has gone for a walk....

That happened on my Mk2 theres a little shitty circlip that clips into a grove but always falls out, i managed to grab it just b4 it dropped and pull it back with pliers. Have to hold it up with something when your trying to put the wiper back on otherwise it'll fall through again, tis such a cunt of a thing.

Yeah its in a mk2 cortina. I wrote early ford as my mk1 escort also has the same set up.

I think the little thing is stuck in the wiper bowl. Ill take a pic tonight..

All fixed. I might try explaing why it woulnt go in later.

Basically it was on the wrong angle and to get it to the right angle I had to turn the wipers on then stall them half way and jab it in.
