redline racer
Im in the process of replacing a burnt valve in a Mark 5 Cortina 2L, and have found that to remove the head studs a special splined tool is needed. I have been into a ford dealership who have one but wont lend it and dont sell them anymore. What other options do i have? are there any other 'special' tools i havnt noticed that will be needed to replace the valve? Cheers.
Burntrubber
You can get those spline tools from most trade stores. You need a valve compressor, grinding paste and the little suchtion cup thing to grind the valves with.

esky boi
Yea you can buy the tool from auto parts stores.. I got mine from Auto One. They come in a whole lot of different sizes so make sure you get the right one haha. Didn't think Cortina and Sierra ones were different, I used the same tool on both a corty and a sierra motor.. RT
the later sierra ones are definately different. They have better slightly stronger studs as well.
