Im told they used to run hillman imp master cylinders with remote resevoirs but if you were really keen on sideys you could go for a milton pedal box and mount the resevoirs wherever you want thats starting to get a bit pricey though

I had to use a willwood pedal box with the master cylinders under the dash.

willwood peddal boxes dont come with gas pedals so i had to use another brake pedal for it.

i had to use short throw tilton master cylinders.

in total it cost about $1000

All the Eskys with the Kent based motors and twin sidedrafts have had offset mounts for the motor with no detriment. Usually combined with a Lotus angled g/box mount but this could also be done by slotting the holes.

I think you might have problems with the Escort struts because of the difference in steering system( perhaps the Escort xmember and rack?)

Bump steer could be a major problem. We used to speed up the Anglia steering by shortening the steering arms and drilling then forging the taper with heat and an old balljoint.

If you decide to stick with a downdraft then the 40/40 DFA from the v6 Zepher is a good alternative. The simultaneous throttle opening gives less economy but lots more response and the 40mm bores more top end. All the rally cars used Hillman Imp m/cyls for the pedal boxes with remote resevoirs however a pedal box does seem an extreme solution. Of course when it was not uncommon to see Anglboxs with sidedrafts it was with the nonxflow putting the carbs on the pass. side and didn't need to be offset. And the sump and pickup will need to be changed if you retain the Anglia xmember and steering.

Did anyone see that Mint as Blue Anglia [bADBOX] at last years Nats show in Auckland? My Boss built and owns that and is fitted with 1600 x-flow with twin 40mm side draughts. If you want I could find out EXACTLY what he did to fit em for ya.

I know that he made up a big linkage setup and mounted some form of late model Jap brake master cylinder up the front of the engine bay and under the carbs.

Hey Pushrod, if you're thinking of sidedrafts on the non xflow then you need to look at an extra bolt mod on the carb manifolds. It goes between the inlet pipes near the top. You drill the manifold to 5/16 ths clearance and the head is drilled and tapped to 5/16ths UNC. It will be directly in line with a hole for a head stud but this is fine, no problem. Use capscrews for all your manifold bolts and a shortened down allen key to tighten. Shortened on the end that engages the capscrew.

Without the extra bolt the sidie manifolds will work loose and start to suck air. Make sure your manifold plates are the same thickness for inlet and exhaust other one is never properly tight.
