atropine
haynes manual says.. 1600sport (2dr) 900kg 1600ghia 4dr?? 950kg 1.3 ghia is 25kg heavier than standard 1.3 so maybe like 925?

RT
I think the early mk1 2dr is around $700-750kgs.

RT
..pretty much, but there can be lots of hassles trying to put a e/w engine n/s for rwd though.. often things like throttlecables, clutch and manifolds can be in a cunty place for the switch around. Guest Demonmk2
yea well im imbarrsed with the engine but it does put out decent power for its size 135hp and its free whats e/w etc? how much will custom mounts cost? and its possible to actually have it installed and running right? atropine
135hp for what? im confused.. not a sport engine right?..
Guest Demonmk2
oh dw i meant the engine that i wanna chuck in the escort its from a fwd car but i cant talk bout it here its the wrong topic sorry
esky boi
Chuck a pinto in it bro, you can get 135hp out of them pretty easily. Would be a hell of a lot more simple to convert than a fwd engine.. if you were going to the effort of putting a fwd engine in youd want something thats gona be worth it...like say an CA18 or SR20. atropine
agreed
RT
For all the money it's gonna cost you there's heaps better options: Fully worked 180-200hp pinto (what you save on conversion you spend on mods) or if that's too oldschool then go for a Zetec like Arty's a few mods will see 160-180hp and it's still ford and you can buy a complete kit for the conversion. Or even a Ford Duratec, more expensive but can see 200-220hp easily enough! and if you want a hybrid then again better choices: SR20 & CA18 or even an old toyota 3T.. Pushrod
damm straight get a duratec fully worked and turbod they can see over 500hp if you have suitably deep pockets
Gaz
4age, easier than the others mentioned here and can definatly get good power out of them. Not to expensive to do and they are awsome engines.
atropine
yeah i think a duratec he would cost quite a lot.. and then you gotta give up that classic belt driven style!!
davidian
yea well im imbarrsed with the enginebut it does put out decent power for its size 135hp and its free whats e/w etc? how much will custom mounts cost? and its possible to actually have it installed and running right? what engine is it already? and WHY do you want it in an esky? theres sooooo many rwd options with more potential and installation ease. seems to me like you're going straight into the deep end of something that might be too hard/expensive to pull off... atropine
without any idea on the engine or better options.. how long have you even had the escort... i had my sport for around 2 1/2 years before i did anything to the motor..which was pull it out.. Jerm
yeah i think a duratec he would cost quite a lot.. and then you gotta give up that classic belt driven style!! PreXflows and Xflows are chain driven can't get much more classic than that!
