Ogre
Just got a 4g63 non turbo gj sigma, trancplanting moter and gearbox into a EX lancer Was wondering what the difference was between the 4g52 and the 4g63? Witch is better and what cheap easy mods are there for the 4g63? Also wanting to know if its worth removing the "balance shafts"?Does it give much more increase in responce or isnt it really worht it? Thanx
lowlancer
4g63 would be a much better choice I would think, being far more modern, the 4G52 came in Celestes like mine...As for the balance shafts, if you're getting a 4G63, why does it matter? And no, it won't make much difference, if any...
Guest LukeNukem
Removing the balance shafts is bad, they are there for a reason you know. Removing them gives slighty better response, but not much, apparently. Engine wont last too long with out them, unless you pay some big bux to get the crank and all, balanced. Ogre
yeah i was just asking about the balance shafts.I dont really want to take them out. Im gonna stick with the 4g63 since i hav a good condition recond moter sitting in my garage mated upwith an "ok" gear box Thanx
Snoozin
Removing the balance shafts creates all sorts of engine life shortening harmonics so I understand. Those non-turbo 4G63's out of the Sigma's go surprisingly well, I had the opportunity to thrash a mates GJ Sigma at one point, and it did impress me for all it's big fat family car-ness!!! Ogre
hmmmmm.Thats intresting about the balance shafts. Everyone so far has seid the same thing. I dont really want to take them out if its gonna couse problams. Im gonna do extracters, mite hav some twin dollortos and mild street can, and do the ports, so yeah. All that in a 800kg car should keep me fairly happy i think. Guest LukeNukem
Dude if you chuck a milo-can on a lawnmower I'm gonna find you and slap you with a 351C crankshaft....
lowlancer
Plus balance shafts are such a cool idea! "The engine incorporates 2 balancing shafts which cancel the inherent vibration of a four cylinder engine and result in uncanny smoothness..." Smoothness of a rotary with the fuel efficency of a piston engine!
